BLACKTAIL, the surreal, first-person, action-adventure game set in a dark fairy tale world packed with stories and legends retold, has revealed a new gameplay overview trailer preparing players for its December 15 release on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Dive deep into the woods and pre-order BLACKTAIL today on Steam with a 20% off pre-launch discount.

BLACKTAIL is being developed by Polish indie studio THE PARASIGHT and published by Focus Entertainment. You play as Yaga, a young girl accused of witchcraft. An intense mix of archery and witchcraft in a dark fairy tale world
Experience the retelling of Baba Yaga's myth and hunt down the elusive images of your past in an enchanted forest. As you learn to master your bow and unleash spells, the moral choices you make will guide you down the path to become a good or evil witch.

Gather resources to craft potions and arrows, use your bow, broom and gauntlet to engage in gripping boss fights, and encounter a variety of bizarre, talkative creatures on your adventures. Lift the veil on your past, decide the fate of the land, and witness the impact of each decision on your skills!

The choice is yours. Will you become the fearsome guardian of the woods, or the terror nightmares are made of?

Yo what this looks awesome!

That looks pretty cool, I guess +1 game on my interest list in december other than Callisto Protocol.:)

it looks... interesting to say the least

I mean the story who knows, I should have elaborated I get real fable vibes from the engine in use. They really seemed to nail the “fairy tale “ aspect.

I agree, looks neat. Might play this

Except they only advertised it with a controller, like o dam that was some square ass gameplay, i'll wait until i know if keyboard\mouse work as they should.

Wow, this looks good, a first person view game I could get into! :)

Shooting the bow looks kinda pants to me.
Yeah, archery in first person is an acquired taste, that's for sure. But its really just a slower revolver, right. Iron sights are pulling the bow string.

I dont think they nailed anything except a potentially good story. I'd really need to see reviews or game play to say more.

Looks like an interesting world, and I like the art direction overall, but translating "morally ambiguous" into what sounds like a late-2000s good-or-evil slider? That's a pretty significant turn-off. I hope this is a case of the actual game being more interesting and nuanced than the language used to describe it.

Also, did nobody tell these people that close-quarters archery combat in games tends to suck?

I'm not sure, but it might be an animation thing as I get no impression of weight. While I haven't shot a bow in real life, the position she holds it in, looks awkward.

Plot twist: Baba Yaga is ALWAYS the worst of the worst witches.

The only thing off to me is that there's a bit too little movement when pulling the bow - they should have exaggerated the pulling motion more. As it stands, the perspective makes the pullback look rather short and thus not very weighty, even if it's decent.

Skyrim didnt have a problem. :D

Skyrim didnt have a problem. :D
I beg to differ. Yes, it works, but "run backwards in circles while shooting" really isn't fun even if it gets you there.

I didnt say anything about the fun of kiting, the challenge of that is not to get hit, but, it get tedious, even boring, once you get good at it.

LOL. All combat in Skyrim is horrible to play and look at. The bow is great, for the first arrow from stealth. After that... yeah, it becomes a circus act
