According to news out of Taiwan, NVIDIA is getting ready to move its logistics center from Hong Kong to Taiwan. The information comes from Taiwan's Minister of Economic Affairs, Wang Mei-Hua, so the source should be fairly reliable. The Taiwanese government has apparently been in negotiation with NVIDIA since some time last year and the two have now reached a consensus.

The media report didn't mention where NVIDIA will locate its new logistics center, but the company and the Taiwanese government have been discussing tax subsidies to help facilitate the move. Wang told the local media that the new logistics center should boost the local industry, least not because NVIDIA is already working with TSMC, as well as many other local suppliers and manufacturers. No details were given on when the move would take place, but it's likely to be a transition that will be drawn out, due to the fact that NVIDIA is still going to have to supply all of its customers during the move.

Wait. Didn’t Pat say Taiwan was unstable then said stable to get TSMC orders then changed back to unstable? I guess Nvidia made this decision on one of Pat’s swings back to stable.

I hope they can prosecute and stop Moore threads too. They're clearly using stolen Nvidia IP.

Hi,
Seems like a pointless move seeing China is about to pounce on Taiwan.

it will reduce the production cost right ? and make graphic card cheaper right ? right ?

If these talks started 2 years ago then that coincides with China letting it be known it no longer has the intention of abiding by the 50 year agreement of letting Hong Kong remain autonomous until 2047. So at that point Nvidia said message received and started making plans to get the heck out of dodge.

Maybe by 7.07%LO.L  Guess Nvidia got tired of shipping disruptions due to Covid lockdowns & closed ports.

So the only pro for consumers might be better availability. Well, at least something.

Taiwan is a fortress. Cannot be occupied without destroying it completely and I don't think China wants ruins.

USA sanctioned China, nVidia in not allowed anymore to sell high-end chips to Chinese companies. A lot of Infrastructure in China got obsolete, any nVidia business in China is in danger to be canceled due to new sanctions. Tensions can rise anytime.

If nothing else this speaks to the growing line that separates China from Taiwan.

Maybe they should have used the situation to move the center to a country not being in the direct sphere of influence of China... Singapore comes to my mind. Everything else outside of south-east Asia being even better. Looks like it's not only German companies not being willing to get a bit further away from China.

You mean try to. There is always something to the spirit of the Defender and it would seem that Democratic style Armies are way better at logistics, resupply and firepower than their one man Government alternatives.

I've lived for years in China, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Taiwan is the best. China has been going downhill for over a decade. Hong Kong is now a police state.

Good for them. The more we move out of China the better. Nobody (especially foreigners) wants to be in China anymore. At least when I first moved there in 2004 it was affordable. Not now, so there aren't even any financial benefits to live there.

Living the good life on $300 per month rent is long gone. Police state and high prices is all you get now.

When I moved to Taiwan and realized that I was free for the first time in years, it was a wonderful feeling. Just having the internet work properly was such a blessing!

Do we seriously need to witness "China bad" narrative comments on each damn China related news?

They been doing that shit for many years, so nothing new there. Sadly cannot say more on it as people btch about facts.

The US will defend Taiwain, but the HK policy is less certain.

HAHA!.

The possibility of COD making a "Chinese Warfare" game in 20 years time is getting higher :D:D

Nobody's going to argue that China is moving backwards in terms of freedoms. I can see this as a reason for Nvidia to relocate from HK, which is effectively now part of China.

You mean water is not wet and blood is not red? :)

China is a police state and basically a new version of the nazi's except they haven't started a world war yet.
This sort of "let's point out the new enemies" it's the real cancer of our society. All last 80 years problems are coming from that. Face it.
