Japan and the Netherlands Said to Join US in Blocking Access to Chip Making Tools for China

What is too late according to you? China has no EUV production capacity, nor supply chain, and the latter is as important as the former. They say they've made a scanner, was a recent news post even, now let's see them make chips on that scanner ;) I'll predict right now its not going to be economically viable IF they're even functional at any cutting edge node size.

The market is flooded with current-and last gen chips, but the world will move on, with or without China producing their archaic stuff in the future.

What most westerns cannot be aware of, this is the size of electronics market at the mainland China.

The good thing: Most Chinese they are in denial to pay and get necessary certifications so to be able to export this technology.
Are they happy with their earnings just from mainland sales?
Is this technology copy-cat work, that westerns will never approve so to import?

Anyone up to find out the truth, he must travel in person in China of 2023.

1. China is involved in rampant IP theft.
2. Several products made in China have had backdoors installed by their military.
3. COVID showed us the fragility of supply lines from there.

It's not just the US. Multiple countries have been advocating this because of 1 and 2 for some time now.
All 3 points strongly applies to USA as well.

As for multiple countries - they are not politically independent.

They will find a supplier that doesn’t care and get those goods anyway.
world governments can’t stomp out thousands of tonnes of drugs moving about a single container ending up in china instead of Korea…

The only one here that really matters is the Netherlands because that's where all of the silicon fabrication hardware comes from.
And Austria, where most of the key components that go to the Netherlands for use in those precision fabrication hardware comes from. It's in fact the near-sole supplier of key components to ASML, if I'm not misremembering.

This has been coming for a while and it's really stupid, imo. Nevermind the loss of globalization, but did they even think about what happens when the Chinese catch up, because they eventually will? Look at what they have done with EV's in China. They have closed the gap to Tesla the most of all competitors. The sophistication of Chinese EV's make GM and Ford look like dunces building China into the largest EV market in the world.

Anyways, all these NSA rumored backdoors and secret tools buried in our chips will definitely not be in the Chinese homegrown chips. Did anyone think about that before...?
And the Chinese don't. Hell they stole most of the tech they have now but I gotta give credit because they are improving the tech. Seriously I just wish we could all work together think of the accomplishments humanity could make instead of trying kill people. I just want to live free and in peace.

What a lovely sentiment with which to end the thread.
