ASUS Launches the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Monitor

ASUS today formally launched the ROG Swift OLED PG27AQDM Monitor. We first spotted this monitor on the show-floor at the 2023 International CES back in January. It is one of the company's fastest monitors with an OLED display panel. The 27-incher offers WQHD (2560 x 1440 pixels) resolution, with a blistering 0.03 ms response time, and 240 Hz refresh rate, and 1,000 nits peak brightness and DCI-P3 coverage of 99%. OLED panels tend to produce more heat than LED-backlit LCD panels, and so ASUS introduced a passive cooling solution to cool it. The monitor supports NVIDIA G-SYNC (compatible), along with VESA Adaptive Sync. Display inputs include a DisplayPort 1.4, and two HDMI 2.0. The company didn't reveal pricing.

They apparently assume that either DSC is always used, or DP is used in SDR only... or 240 Hz refresh rate is not used?

That's why I won't buy them. Spend all that cash for DP 1.4 and forced DSC. Why though? Did they really save money?

For a $1k monitor I agree with chrcoluk that monitor "stand" has to go.

On another point sometimes I run memtest86 for 24 hrs. from the Ultimate BootCD and that requires the monitor be left on for that entire period (if I turn off my Asus PG279q or switch inputs the screen goes blank and I can't see the results of memtest86), would leaving memtest running for 24 hrs. with the monitor on cause any negative effects for an OLED (e.g. burn out the matrix prematurely or cause permanent burn-in)?

I'm just saying, clearly nothing has launched or they'd have pricing. It's an abuse of the word "launch", let's call it "Asus launches another marketing campaign for the Asus OLED monitor" instead.

I've found that Asus is the worst when it comes to the gaudy gamer "aesthetic". Just look at their recent motherboards -- covered in stupid and meaningless "gamer" text and that obnoxious eye logo. They pretty much wrote the book on the gaudy gamer aesthetic. I've found other companies to not be nearly as bad.

(Gigabyte AORUS did, however, at one point (first gen Ryzen) have mobos that lit up like a Christmas tree, wherein even the RAM and PCIe slots were RGB lit. But aside from that, they weren't covered in cringy "gamer" text)

HDMI 2.0 on this one is a no go. This makes the LG 27GR95QE better since it has HDMI 2.1 ports and supports 4K120 input for console users.

HDMI 2.0 on a 2023 $1K (possibly more) monitor with also no USB C Support? HDMI 2.1 was released in 2017 and monitors with type c ports can drive this resolution at this refresh rate (MAG274QRX for example). I like ASUS but I think it's better to wait for these types of monitors to mature and get reasonably priced than to be an early adopter for OLED tech designed for "gamers" just because these companies want to hop on early. Sorry if my points seem weird I'm using a Legion 7i 2022 laptop as my main producing and gaming laptop so outright displayports aren't an option (unless I use adapters).

Yeah I guess this monitor was more directed for PC users. OLED Monitors at 4K 120hz+ for someone on Console with full HDMI 2.1 support would be amazing.

Yeah that's the thing, sometimes the people who want to work with these type of setups would want something that's a little bit more "low-key".

As cool as they look sometimes, a good amount of the people using this (Unless they got rich parents) aren't looking for 4090's and high contrast, high resolution monitors to be looking like a "toy" with little cool light up logo projectors on the stand and RGB rings like some kind of Beyblade.

Something that seems a little bit more understated would be better, I guess it's a preference and taste thing but that's why I personally like the founder's edition cards as they are a bit more better looking.

definitely $1,000 or more as LG's current 27GR95QE-B which uses the same panel costs that.
