BenQ, an internationally renowned innovator of visual solutions and digital lifestyle devices, today unveiled GP500 4K LED smart projector, combining authentic digital cinema colour quality and theatrical sound performance with intelligent installation features in a sleek, modern design. Equipped with Android TV, the all-in-one GP500 LED smart projector invites enthusiasts to reimagine avant-garde home cinema with simple, yet powerful customisation and long-lasting, maintenance-free image brilliance.

"GP500 revolutionises the conventional home theatre with LED-powered colour fidelity covering 90% of the digital film industry's DCI-P3 standard, together with advanced image adjustability and simple installation flexibility unique to BenQ home cinema projection," said Conway Lee, President of BenQ Corporation. "Encompassed by the immersive concert-hall resonance of its 360° quad-speaker treVolo audio system, GP500 really stands out."

GP500's wide DCI-P3 colour coverage produces richly lifelike colours precisely as filmmakers intended, with BenQ's Auto Color Calibration preserving LED colour accuracy for long-lasting colour consistency. The spectacular CinematicColor performance shines across the true 4K UHD 8.3 million distinct pixel resolution, enhanced by optimised HDR with HDR10/HLG support, authentically showcasing every cinematic detail on the big screen.

The GP500 uses four ideally balanced full-range speakers that face in four directions to create a full 360° sound stage, augmented by cinema-grade bass reflex cabinet design for room-filling sound from any vantage point. The award-winning treVolo psychoacoustic tuning with independent DSP creates immersive 3D sound, and each speaker can be individually configured for precise stereo imaging optimised to the viewing location.

Beautifully styled with an elegant profile, the GP500 seamlessly blends into modern living spaces with advanced installation features. Its 1.3X big zoom 4K-optimised lens produces 100"+ big screens from less than 3 m projection distance, aided by automatic focus, automatic 2D keystone correction, screen fit, and object avoidance to deliver professionally squared images in any space.

Onboard smart Android TV streaming apps including Prime Video, Hulu, and YouTube, as well as native AirPlay and Chromecast support, provide endless possibilities, and GP500 connects universally to limitless entertainment options via dual HDMI 2.0b (HDCP 2.2), USB 2.0, ARC/SPDIF multichannel audio, as well as dual-band 2.4/5G Wi-Fi and Bluetooth.

Powered by Digital Light Processing, the ultimately durable technology that won the 2015 Academy Award of Merit Oscar and is used in 90% of the world's digital cinemas, the GP500 4K LED projector delivers long-lasting picture quality with precise colours and razor-sharp clarity, without requiring maintenance or suffering degradation.

Keep in mind that on HDMI 2.0b that this projector has you will not be able to display 4K 60Hz 4:4:4 with 10bit(HDR) color.
Not that HDR is really a thing on projectors, they barely have luminosity for decent SDR.

1500 ANSI lumens.

At least they are brave enough to pull a correct number, not some LED Lumens. Well at least on their site. Whole PR lacks the important number.

I just honestly don't see a situation in which a projector would be preferable over a TV, other than if you want a 200 inch screen with bad constrast

I have a 135inch screen and I absolutely prefer it more than TV for sports and cinema.

Contrast is not an issue with PJ, definitely not, black levels are, you need to build your room around that device, if it is done, then are absolutely no problems.
