Subject 106 breaks free from his chains to unleash mayhem - June 21st on Steam! It's time to break the cycle. Trepang2 features high-octane, first-person gun-fu gunplay and puts players in the shoes of a newly enhanced super soldier on a mission of death, destruction, and revenge.

Broken out from a government black site by unknown allies and removed of their memories, they'll be hunted by their captives and an even more otherworldly foe, and will have to arm themselves with an arsenal of devastating weapons and learn how to handle their newfound superhuman abilities to survive the onslaught, all the while unravelling a deadly conspiracy.

Trepang2 key features:

Over-the-top Action: Dive into a bullet-filled world of death and destruction and put your combat skills to the test against thousands of highly trained special forces operatives who are out for your blood
Explosive Campaign and Horde modes: Play through a thrilling campaign and unravel a deadly supernatural conspiracy, or take on waves of ruthless spec-ops forces and see how long you can survive
Become Enhanced: Master an arsenal of game-changing supernatural abilities including time distortion, invisibility, superhuman speed and strength to dominate your enemies
Brutal Melee Combat: Square up to your foes in close quarters melee combat and go full throttle in rapid fire gunfights. Punch, kick, slide and string together combos to reduce your enemies to dust.

Check your corners and blast into a brand-new story trailer below:

Trepang2's new key art is finalized! We wanted to illustrate Horizon frantically looking for an escape, aware of Subject 106's intimidating presence in the shadows. The soldiers are on alert; they know the elite, genetically modified 106 is ready to pounce. Our protagonist disables his cloak, preparing to shift from covert surveillance to overt aggression. The horror elements of Trepang2 play a significant part in our vision for the art. Yes, this game is about diabolic carnage and giblets hitting the walls - but terrifying, horrific realities also exist. We want to evoke fear in the aesthetic.

Horizon know what they're up against, 106 is a by-product of their heinous endeavors. The formidable, unstoppable force takes on an immovable object. Chaos will ensue. Death, destruction and diabolic scenes await. We'd love to address the imperious creature in the background and explain what on earth it is. But we think it's best we leave that to you, Subject 106.

Thank you for your continued support as ramp up to release! We can't wait to see you unleash havoc.

Looks more like a direct copy than a spiritual successor to me.

There is a demo on Steam for anyone interested:

damn....this is made for me, super cool trailer, oldschool and badass, love it, whoever made the trailer, good on you!

Remap controls? I downloaded the demo and didn't even get past the menus because there was no KB/mouse customization.

Awesome. lets try.

this looks like a lame indie game

Thanks, just finished playing the demo for like 45 mins and its kinda fun.
Indeed getting FEAR vibes from it and thats not a bad thing.:)'feels a bit on the low budget-ish side but its alright'

Well sign me the fudge up! It's like FEAR had a baby with Killing Floor 2.

this looks like a lame indie game
if i want to play fear i'll play fear
Then go play FEAR & stop bitching.

Does not make sense really, this game only mirrors to an extend the gameplay as far as I can see, story will be quite different.
And...well...idk about you but I already played FEAR...a few times actually, so I would rather see some new things then play what I already know is coming.

what i meant is such projects are imitations of originals and, in most cases, fail to achieve what the original had achieved, because the indies "inspired by" making a "spiritual successor" don't have the same mindset/game design document/vision which made the original games great, so their counterparts always feel like bad attempts at recreating the original thing

i'd much rather people create something of their own than trying to bank on nostalgia and falling flat very often - this common "it looks like fear" impression i hear/see everywhere is, to me, not a good sign

Played a bit of the demo, felts rather mediocre, sure it does take visual elements from fear, but I do wish it took what made fear so great, the engaging enemy ai. The demo at least does not.

The AI was very good in F.E.A.R.
It was one of it's strengths and the Alma scares were very good too.

Yep, ill never forget the going down a ladder animation being interrupted by Alma in your face, that was such an "against the rules" move, love it

Eh lets be honest here, there is very VERY little true originality in games or any media, they all borrow as they all grew up with stuff that stuck with them.
What new games are actually original and not just (often lesser) copies of older stuff?

I tried it. It's fun but not much like FEAR at all. A lot of stealth + bullet time, but combat is quite diverse, you can slide into enemies, take them as human shields, stealth up to them and blast them with shotgun, etc. Not bad actually.

But once it locked up and after restart my Windows turned a weird blue hue...
