Nyko is proud to announce the release of the Intercooler for Nintendo Wii. The Intercooler for Wii is the perfect accessory for Wii gamers looking to keep their consoles running in the best possible environment. The Intercooler dramatically increases the rate of hot air flowing out of the vent, resulting in a console that runs at considerably lower temperatures. The Intercooler for Wii clips easily onto the back of the Wii, meaning there is no complicated installation or modification necessary. This patented design also leaves all of the inputs on the back of the console free and easily accessible. For image conscience gamers, the Intercooler for Wii comes in a décor that matches the aesthetic of the Wii itself and can be used when the console is in a horizontal or vertical position. The Intercooler for Wii has shipped to stores nationwide, and is available at the Nyko Online Store for $14.99 here.

Wii needs a cooler?!

That's either:
1. An attempt to get more money out of people, or
2. Actually needed to keep something that's overall less powerful than my 500MHz celeron rig, which is absolutely boulderdash.

Wtf? Why would a console that probably runs cooler than a PS1 need an extra cooler?!

I agree, since the Wii Runs passively at really low temperatures. However, if its cheap it would be an okay product I guess, but, I dont see anyone overclocking their Wii anytime soon, nor do I think that anyone would use this to extend the Wii's operational lifetime.

It does seem like some attempt to pry money out of people's hands however. Other consoles such as the PS3 or XBOX 360, both would need these though... the PS3 generates too much heat...

Why did you single out the ps3 for generating too much heat? It's not the one that was suffering from a 33% failure rate due to heat. It works fine without additional cooling.

That said, the Wii cooler seems like a useless products to me. The Wii just doesn't generate enough heat to need something like this.

Yeah, I was gonna say, since when does the Wii need an external cooler anyways :p.

just a nother company out to get ppls money, nothing new ...

I say, it is as good as DVD rewinder :D

and why do we need this? the wii doesn't use much power, and its not a hd console with huge power hungry devices. one word describes the above.....LAME!

Nothing wrong with having lower temps.

My friends wii did get warm to the touch after extended use, although I don't find that to be a severe problem. If I had a wii however I may buy this for the sole purpose of extra cooling. After all we of all people know the damage or benefit of better/worse cooling.

my console seemed to get warm and suffer disc read errors when left in wiiconnect mode (standby/amber light) but it was necessary for the controllers to be charging.
