NVIDIA's GeForce RTX 4060 Ti mid-range graphics card saw its first round of retailer-level price cuts mere hours into its market-availability (starting May 24). The card was seen starting at 439€ (including taxes), but quickly saw its price trimmed by 20€, down to 419€, in what could be very early signs that the card isn't exactly flying off the shelves. Our reviews of the RTX 4060 Ti show it to be barely matching up to the previous-generation RTX 3070 (a card that it was expected to beat), and the prospect of a 439€ graphics card for 1080p gaming, when a 4K-capable Sony PlayStation 5 can be had for around 449€, isn't going down well with gamers. The Comments sections of our reviews show readers to be agitated, to say the least.

A generational performance uplift trend has been for a graphics card from a particular market segment to match or beat the graphics card from a segment above in the previous generation. The RTX 4060 Ti, for example, should be matching the RTX 3070 Ti in performance, while the upcoming RTX 4060 should be matching the RTX 3070. This doesn't seem to be happening, and the RTX 4060 Ti is being offered at the same launch MSRP as the RTX 3060 Ti, which at launch beat even the enthusiast-class RTX 2080 from its preceding generation.

And pretty awful product segmentation as well.

i dont understand why nvidia didnt go all out with the 40 series... since the max ada chipset has another 30% room from RTX4090 and trickle down from there

Because consumers don't deserve more, at least not until they launches the refreshed products next year.

I am definitely not expecting any refreshed products anymore since the new process nodes are getting less and less appealing. Next gen is going to be the same as this one (15% uplift for same price at best).

do you think we will see another repeat of the 3090ti with 4090ti later this year and then 6 months later 50 series comes out and beats it with a cheaper price?

Have I ever told you how much I LOVE popcorn lately?

Damn, nom nom

The thing that should not be (borrowed from Metallica).
But if it falls at 3060 ti prices, I'll choose this over 3060 ti or 6700 xt.

£360 Scan UK.. quite a drop..

trog

You can't realisticly expect shops to lower prices after only a few hours based on sales performance.

More likely: they adjusted prices based on their counterparts prices to be more competitive than them.

4060 ti FE is out of stock btw

They can easily do Super like refreshes with how much faster ADA can be. You mention a 15% uplift but I got 70-80% more performance at a similar price with the 4090 so the potential is certainly there.

Difference in the UK is already only about 5%, at in stock prices (source: Scan UK)

This is a reminder incidentally that the later 3060 Ti versions have GDDR6X memory.

Are you hinting of a possible Super refresh?

I don't think the 4060Ti is going to sell and I really don't think that the remaining 3060Tis are going to sell, at least not at the prices at my local Micro Center.

4060Ti at my Micro Center start at $399. A total of 99 cards are available. 30 of them are $399, all rest are upwards of $460.
3060Ti at my Micro Center start at $409. A total of 104 cards are available (not including a handful of open box ones). 18 of them are $409, the rest of them are upwards of $499.

I don't think Micro Center is going to clear out their 3060Ti stock at these prices when the 4060Ti is priced slightly better or at the same price. Seems strange they aren't dropping the 3060Ti by a about a $100 to try and blow the inventory off the shelves.

That is reserved for the response to AMD's 50 series so the "Titan" moniker can keep them in the perceived lead.

I'm not hinting at anything, I just expect them to do it, if there are enough unused cores left in the chips that is and they've gotten the yields up to a rate where they don't have to worry too much about flawed chips.

419EU definitely is NOT a price cut!!

In Spain too, 419.95€ at this moment. Inno3D GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Twin X2 & Zotac GeForce RTX 4060 Ti Twin Edge
Free shiping - Tax 21% inc

(419€ /1.21) / 0.9317 = $372 at launch day

Does the 4060ti max out the ad106 chip? If so, not sure how a Super sku could be introduced, unless the host bus, bus width and memory configuration is changed.
Since there were no Super skus with the 30 series, my assumption is that those were a one-time run. Just my opinion, but I could be wrong. I am curious, what makes you think otherwise other than yields?
