MSI in its Computex 2023 booth demonstrated its inverted cabling motherboard concept dubbed "Project Zero." The idea behind this is that all the connectors and headers of the motherboard are located on the reverse side of the PCB, and compatible cases have cutouts at just the right places, so all the cabling—including power—is routed to the motherboard in the crawl-space behind the motherboard tray. No cable is visible on the obverse side of the case (with notable exceptions being the CPU cooler cables, and the power cables of your graphics card). The prototype motherboard MSI showed off has Socket AM5, and is based on the AMD B650 chipset. The demo build reveals that it's preferable to have individually stranded EPS and 24-pin ATX cables, versus sleeved/braided ones that are tougher to bend and route.

cool idea but i dont know if case manufacturers will go out of thier way to change their case design
maybe if other brands starts adopting the idea could result in shorter length of cables for a tidier desktop
im terrible at cable managing

They wont, ive never had trouble routing cables in any case

That's cheating... lol.

maybe you have more patience than i do lol, i usually give up after the first 4 cables and shove it all in

Been doing this since 1999

This might be an unpopular opinion, but for PC internal, I like the look of clean cables rather than no cables at all.
It gives off a particular aesthetic if done right (like the 24 pin, and PCIE cable)

Same team as you!
I always start thinking that I will do something clean. But then the lust kicks in and I want to boot the faster than I can and i do the less that I can.

The idea is good, but there needs to be a case standard that supports it.

There is, it’s called DYI-APE

I can totally see MSI make a case without windows next year to complement this board.

'Project Zero' - you can't see anything except the box :)
Wait...

I want that. I care not for the bling

If "Project Zero" means figuring out how to sell you literally nothing without you realising it, then they need not bother: Nvidia has already got it with the mid-range 40-series cards.
