Microsoft and Toshiba May Create HD-DVD Xbox360

I hope this makes MS lower the price of the HD-DVD drive add on for the old models, I've been waiting for the price of it to go down to grab one :p

It's already really low compared to stand-alone players, and with King Kong in HD and 5 Free HD-DVD Movies after MIR, what else?

Azn Tr14dz, your right. The extras that are given because your buying the external HD-DVD is great. I forgot all about that.

Also Best Buy is now giving out a Free HD-DVD of the first season of Heroes when you buy the external HD-DVD drive for the 360. Thats a $99 value add on right there. But then again I still wouldnt pay that much for a single season of a tv series, whether its in High Definition or not because $100 is just too expensive to me, but hey if its free go right ahead and buy it from best Buy since they seem to be the only ones doing it.

but i wont want to watch Heroes on my xbox. i want to shoot alien scum and drive fast cars, not watch another over hyped american TV series!! nothing against americans, just your TV

An Australian website has reported Toshiba as saying Microsoft will release an Xbox 360 with a built-in HD DVD drive by the end of next year.An interview with an unnamed ‘senior Toshiba executive’ apparently reveals the pressure the HD DVD founders are under to match the success the PS3 has had on Blu-ray sales. The apparent console will also boast a universal MP3 dock, a bigger hard drive and dual TV tuners – a la PS3's new telly-watching add-on.As with every ‘Microsoft to add HD DVD to 360’ rumour – currently at about one a month – Microsoft is dismissing the claims. But so is Toshiba.A spokesperson for Tosh told us: ‘It’s got nothing to do with us. But we know Microsoft doesn’t want to include the HD DVD drive so as not to limit the user’s experience.’Microsoft pulled a fast one on Sony by launching its Xbox 360 (pictured) without a built-in HD DVD player and keeping costs down. Since then, the PS3’s Blu-ray support has seen the format take a slim lead in the HD disc showdown.Yes, an HD DVD-sporting 360 would be sweet, but we’ll believe when we see it…EssentialsContact: www.toshiba.co.uk

hmm

I've never been a fan for buying a season of any tv series. $100 dollars is too much when you can wait a few months and get it cheaper.

or just watch them on the net

Best Buy is giving it to you for free though. Just for buying the external HD-DVD drive in addition to King Kong and 5 free HD-DVD movies . To me thats one helluva deal for only $179 and guess what Blu-Ray isnt getting this kind of a deal with their players other than the normal 5 free Bl-Ray discs. So guess who gets the better deal here? I know I know pick me pick me!!!! The answer is HD-DVD and especially the people that buy the external HD-DVD drive for the 360.

Here's what you can do. Buy the external HD-DVD at Best Buy, and when you get the Heroes dvd go to Movie Stop or Game Stop and trade it in for something. win win there

And you will get almost zilch in return for its actual value for the value:slap::slap:

That probably be true... You never know until you try... One more thing.. It could be a Christmas gift!!! :toast:
