Razer today launched the 2023 Razer Blade 14. This segment-disruptive 14-inch notebook packs gaming performance comparable to much thicker enthusiast-class notebooks; in a thin-and-light form-factor comparable to business/commercial notebooks. Across the market landscape, the Razer Blade 14 is designed to compete with the Apple MacBook Pro of a comparable screen size. Razer is timing launch of this notebook with that of the AMD Ryzen 7040HS "Phoenix" processor, because it's based on one. The notebook measures 31 cm x 22.8 cm x 1.79 cm (WxDxH with lid closed), and is 11.5% thinner than the 2022 Razer Blade 14. It's also 9% lighter, at 1.83 kg. Despite its size, the notebook packs a 68.1 Wh battery, which when paired with the rather high-end hardware, offers up to 10 hours of productivity.

Under the hood, the Razer Blade 14 (2023) rocks an AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS "Phoenix" processor, with an 8-core/16-thread "Zen 4" CPU, Ryzen AI accelerator, and Radeon 780M (12 CU) integrated graphics. The main graphics muscle, though, is the GeForce RTX 4070 Ada with 140 W TGP. The notebook provides the ability to switch between the discrete- and integrated graphics. The notebook also comes with two DDR5 SO-DIMM slots for up to 64 GB of socketed DDR5 memory; and an M.2-2280 Gen 4 NVMe slot for the main storage, a Gen 4 SSD. The WLAN module is also socketed, and offers Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2. The display is a 14-inch, 16:10 aspect-ratio QHD+ (2560 x 1600 pixels) unit, with 240 Hz refresh rate, and 3 ms response time. The display has 500 nits maximum brightness.

Besides the Wi-Fi 6E WLAN, other I/O features include one USB4 type-C (40 Gbps), one USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C (10 Gbps), and a second 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C. You also get two type-A 10 Gbps USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports. Both type-C ports have DisplayPort 1.4 passthrough. There's also a standard-size HDMI 2.1 port. The main webcam features 1080p resolution, and a physical privacy shutter. The keyboard features per-key Razer Chroma RGB, anti-ghosting and NKRO, and is compatible with Razer Hypershift macros. The glass touchpad has automatic palm rejection.

Open to pre-order from June 14, the Razer Blade 14 (2023) will be available from June 20, and in two color trims—carbon black and mercury white. The base model is priced at USD $2,399, and comes with RTX 4060 (140 W TGP) graphics, and 16 GB DDR5-5600 memory; while the premium variant comes with 32 GB of DDR5-5600 memory, and RTX 4070 graphics, and is priced at $2,699. The white trim is only available with the premium configuration, and is priced at $2,799. All three variants get Ryzen 9 7945HS processor, 1 TB of Gen 4 NVMe storage, and that 14-inch/QHD+/240 Hz display as standard.

Hummm...

Flagship prices, but flagship specs NOT......

No 4080/4090...
No BT 5.3...
No WiFi 7...
No gen 5 m.2...
$100 extra just for the white version...+ no pics of same...I'd bet is isn't really "WHITE" but a mix of black & white or some other combo that looks hideous....

Typical Razzier nonsense :(

Comes with extra 16GB RAM, probably nothing to do with the "premium" color.

I see we have a genius here.
No 4080/4090...
You are paying for the form factor. This is a 14" thin and light ultrabook. If you take a look, most 4070 laptops are 16" gaming laptops, not thin n lights. Anything relatively thin, like the MSI raider, is a similar price with the 4070 GPU.
No BT 5.3...
Oh no, all my......wait, what even uses BT 5.3? Hmmm.....
No WiFi 7...
You mean I'll ONLY GET 900 Mbps? UNACCEPTABLE!!?!/1/1/

*posted from my 50 mbps cable connection*
No gen 5 m.2...
Completely useless, the speed difference between NVMe 3.0 and 4.0 is non existant already, even with direct storage. You dont need 5.0 nvme in a laptop, or really anywhere. It would just waste power.

Past razer products would say you have no idea what you are talking about.

Interesting that RAM and Wifi also have been kept user upgradeble along with SSD.
A pleasant change from their soldered RAM products of the late 2010s.

you can buy a HP OMEN laptop with a 4090 for that price, lmao.

Hummm...

Precios emblemáticos, pero especificaciones emblemáticas NO ......

Nº 4080/4090...
If you are a gamer I would buy a tower but for laptops with the 4070 + FSR 3.0 you have more than enough
Sin BT 5.3...
Almost all laptops use BT 5.1 or 5.2 but 5.3 seems to be a joke
No gen 5 m.2...
$100 extra solo por la versión en blanco...+ sin fotos de lo mismo... Apuesto a que no es realmente "BLANCO" sino una mezcla de blanco y negro o alguna otra combinación que se ve horrible...

Tonterías típicas de Razzier:(
The GEN 5 has a couple of years left until the difference with the same capacity of a GEN 4 to a GEN 5 is more than €300 so don't freak out and I think I haven't seen any ultrabook with GEN 5 yet hahahahaha

HAS EVERYTHING is: Acer Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-43)
What strikes me compared to the rest of ultrabooks:
The spectacular Wiffi 7 getting ahead of everyone
OLED at 120HZ few laptops have that frequency.
HDMI 2.1 to fully exploit TV even 8K
2 USB 4.0 full speed Acer Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-43)

If you are looking for a laptop that has everything, forget about Intel and its 13Gen where its Xe graphics has not been updated in 4 years, it is impossible to render 3D, videos, Augmented Reality, it is also impossible to play AAA games, which can be done with ZEN 4 Phoenix and RDNA
I said if you want it ALL Here I leave the ACER with 2 USB 4.0 full speed Acer Swift Edge 16 (SFE16-43) link https://www.techpowerup.com/forums/...md-ryzen-7040-series-apus-and-wi-fi-7.309156/

the only acer swift i can find on their website has MD Ryzen™ 7 7735U ... also at that price, i'd rather just go with a macbook.

If you knew anything about Razer, you'd know of their "Mercury" line-up. It isn't matte white, but a silvery white - ya know, like what Mercury actually looks like, thus the name.

And I have to ask, WTF is up with you and your fixation on white PC parts and peripherals? It's a bit....weird.

+1 "haters will hate"...as one of todays preeimenent philosophers famously said.

I wouldn't buy it because I care a lot about value for money, but that is one extremely desirable laptop.

Value is relative to the individual. Some value having a powerful and light laptop very highly.
Someone who uses it as a tool to make money may value it more than someone using it for leisure. :)

I am aware of the mercury products and the substance too, but if something is "silvery" white, then why not just advertise it as such, instead of claiming to be "white" ?

This is where my "fixation" comes into play, as in false/misleading advertising....

Am I wrong/weird to expect that product descriptions be accurate, truthful and not misleading ? I don't think so :D

Anything below a 4080 is useless, plus the GPUs below that don't scale well with wattage.

Define "useless".
The 4070 has been considered a 'highly efficient 1470 monster'.
I guess a year ago you might consider the 3080 'useless'?

It is utilising 5nm compared to Samsung's 8nm of course it's very efficient, but it isn't performant.

When did wildly overpriced netbooks become a thing?

That is a rhetorical question.

Can't hurt to try again, so: What's "useless"?
You do know this is the way technology tends to go smaller/more efficient->faster ->smaller/more efficient->faster ->smaller/more efficient->faster -> etc..

Your forgot cheaper, having a new generation that offers the same performance while being more expensive it's stagnation even regression, a 4070 laptop should cost the same as a 3060 to make sense given the performance.

I guess we are looking at 2 different products. The new generation CPU is far superior to that which it replaces. The RAM used is faster. 11.5% thinner, 9% lighter. Price...now I am typing on a 14 yr old Dell XPS L702 with a nice 2.20 ghz Core i7-2720QM processor and the mighty NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M GPU... it cost me $1600 or more as I recall...11 or more years ago. About the best the produced then.

The product under discussion costs...just a bit more. Progress and 'cheaper' do not always go hand in hand. To coin a phrase: 'Should it one hand, reality in another'.

It seems the main reason for the increase of laptop prices are the new GPU, Intel sells their parts at the same level as before, I don't think AMD sells their parts much higher.
The issue with the 4070 and lower they don't bring any performance uplift, the die is tiny as well, so the cost of the new node hardly makes a difference.
