More cache isn't happening without more cores, they'd have to redesign the chips for that. Think of 6xxx till 10xxx what changed besides higher cache on them?

I can understand "redesign the chips" but why is more cache hinged on increasing core count?

Perfect would be more cores as well, but even if they just do those other things it's still better than the current lineup. Just having more cache, and memory support with increased efficiency alone would be a general improvement. It would be great if BCLK OC were possible again as well, but seems rather doubtful.

yep more cores would add value in a workload-specific scenario but not for everyone. I'd still be happy with a 6/8c MT part (even without e-cores if it cuts cost) for "gaming" or for other non-MT exhaustive tasks.
 
Think of 6xxx till 10xxx what changed besides higher cache on them?
6-7th - nothing new, maybe just support for DDR4
8th - adding two cores to the entire series i3-i7.
9th - adding two cores to the i7. i9 appears
10th - adding two cores to the i9. The entire series receives hyperthreading.
 
New voltage regulator not mentioned? Thats a pretty big feature if it gets enabled in the refresh.

From my read, Intel's patent claims DLVR can only reduce power by 10W (25% @ 40A, assuming 1.00V) at most. Anything less or more power actually gets less than 10W improvement.

I fear DLVR will be a rounding error in desktop; you can add or drop 10W with basically an optimized; in mobile, however, it'll be greatly welcome.
