Western Digital Announces the WD Blue SN580 NVMe Gen4 SSD

Surprised to see 250GB drive capacity, most OEMs have started to sell entry level PCs with 500/512GB SSDs so not sure who target audience is for that capacity.

Doubt that, I could buy a relatively high end 2TB gen4 SSD for around $120~130 last month so this would be much worse VFM. Of course that changes from nation to nation but in most places 500GB is becoming the bare minimum.

Perhaps they are just using up spare/old parts leftover from the pandemic ramp up, to clear out inventory to make way for the upcoming 950/950X Blacks, or just trying to squeeze the low-end segment a little moar ?

900TBW is lower than typical endurance.
But if the price becomes low enough it may be worth it.

An updated SN570. I don't see anything bad about that. Endurance stays the same, TLC is still declared on the datasheet, and initial price is 10% higher on the WD's site but prices of all SSDs keep dropping.

The 4TB version is conspicuously absent but maybe it comes later, like the 2TB SN570 that came to market a couple months later.

What is wrong with Europe pricing? EU prices starts at 50eur for 250GB, 100eur for 1TB, that is extremly overpriced for what it is.. and almost triple USD price, wtf
