Developer Shiro Games and publisher Funcom are proud to reveal that Dune: Spice Wars, the first game set in the Dune universe in two decades, will release out of Early Access in September. In just over one year of Early Access, Shiro Games has released five major updates, massively expanding the game. Get a taste of precious spice in the brand-new Dune: Spice Wars Gamescom trailer.

Dune: Spice Wars lets you lead one of the Great Houses of the Imperium to dominate Arrakis and the flow of spice. Through intrigue, warfare, economy, and spycraft, you will rule the deserts or be buried in them.

Since landing on Arrakis, players have seen the addition of multiplayer, House Corrino, flying units, new buildings, major AI improvements, Conquest scenarios, other community-requested features, and much, much more. Thanks to a passionate community and effective communication, bug fixes, balancing, and quality of life improvements have also arrived with every update.

From the beginning, updates have focused not only on growing the game with new features and content, but also on making it a 4X strategy game which is accessible to people discovering the genre.

As we approach the launch, Shiro founder and CEO Nicolas Cannasse has some words to share: "Our goal was to create an easy to understand yet hard to master, content-rich 4X game that caters to both newcomers and enthusiasts of the genre, fueled by regular updates & our growing community's feedback & support. We can't wait to see players immerse themselves in the rich game we've crafted together."

Wish we could get a new supreme commander, the scale of it with modern hardware, one can only dream

I got it in early access even though I was a bit worried it'd turn out to be a Northgard reskin. It's actually quite fun and stands on its own, not just superficially drawing from the Dune lore.

Here I was hoping to be battling it out for some Cayenne, Paprika and Cumin, maybe even some Turmeric. But here we are...

Just like with Baldur's Gate 3, I was waiting for the complete release before picking up this one. Definitely going to try it.

I like Dune, the lore and the recent movie (Villeneuve is awesome) really speaks to me

Supreme Commander was a flop imo, sure it sounded good for example blowing up a planet HA! but it was nothing like the original.

Maybe give this a try ?, like the original on steroids.

It was a flop commercially, but the game itself was fun. I still remember the feeling when my solid army got wiped out by a single spider bot for the first time. I still have it installed, but it doesn't work on Win11 anymore :(
Supreme Commander 2 ran everything into the ground. Or so I heard, I haven't tried it.

My bad, TA, SC and then SC2 which the later was the flop.

I enjoyed it for a while it just seemed like it lost it's soul on it's way. I got SC2 back in 2010 and so did a bunch of us from the SC1, and we all ended up hated it for what it became.

Iirc, SC also lost some stuff TA had (e.g. no more sending your troops on a predefined patrol route straight from the factory). But it was still fun. If I understood correctly, SC2's capital sin was that it did away with build queues and also TA-style resource gathering, making it just another <your_rts_of_choice_here> clone.

Sorry, but this graphics looks at least 10 years old dated... What gives??

Yup. Graphics are quite dated, I hope that gameplay may save the day.
