okay thanks, everybody talking about Meteor lake, I really thought the 14900k was it. So the idea is wait for 15900k then and likely will also come with a new platform.

That is correct. Under Intel's newest nomenclature, Ultra means newest architecture. This 14th gen is an outlier, it was never intended to be released, it's just a re-release of the existing product lineup and a small "bump" for the i5 and i7 segments so they compete better with Zen 4 3D.

Meteor Lake is mobile focused. There may be some low end desktop parts, i3/i5 class. Arrow Lake is the desktop evolution of Meteor Lake and is due out in around 12 months and is definitely worth waiting for. It will need to be good, as Zen 5 is already showing huge performance increases and is due late Q1, early Q2 2024. Also, Arrow Lake will not feature SMT, so the 8P+16E might be weaker than 14900K in MTing.
