had an issue with the fans on my 2080 Ti (i bought it on ebay from a private seller and it was used... Fan RPM dropped sometimes for a couple seconds)
The Support answered within 30 minutes, apologized, imediately sent me a free express shipping label and after two weeks they just said: we don't have another AMP Extreme here. do you want a AMP Extreme Core and 200€ or a 1200€ Refund? (took the refund and got it within two days)

my Zotac experience is so far excellent.View attachment 316123

You live in the EU. Outside the EU 100% Zotac refuses a 2nd hand owner an RMA. It's written right in their warranty agreement. Any vendor is good when you have consumer protection laws.

Never bought a Zotac/Palit before but for £1050 if the Zotac card is up to the task its an appealing alternative to the 7900XTX. I'm not so big on the features but ranking better in power consumption whilst gaming is a BIG plus for the 4080.

But it is what it is, the 7900 XTX is cheaper, faster raster perf, not far behind in RT perf and that whopping 24GB VRAM will be handy in the years to come.

lol i suppose that didnt help... for me its either a more affordable 7900 XTX and then some undervolting action with less noticeable performance compromise or just pay the £75 on top and grab the 4080. Longevity for me isn't an issue, i upgrade cards more regularly then some/most (maybe 2-3 years). I am beginning to develop intolerances with cards shooting beyond 350w... some of these AIB XTX's shoot above 400w. Gets me all sweaty in the summer whilst gaming.

Definitely knowing your local warranty coverage and consumer protection is a good thing but in the USA they all suck so it really doesn't matter.

It is the same thing here. They did it out of good will and by law warranties are voluntarily.
They could just say no with no legal issues.

The AMP has a 495W powerlimit which is basically useless for gaming.
If they are just 50 bucks apart... sure. But otherwise not.

More like £80, did t no if it had better quality parts ect
I watched a lot of reviews where 4080’s overclocked to 2900-3000 still only pulling 320w

Nonsense, it's because German warranty law is significantly more strict and by extension the policy is far more favorable.

Here are the Europe Warranty terms (https://www.zotac.com/us/emeai/page/product-warranty-policy)

And here is the US's (https://www.zotac.com/us/page/product-warranty-policy)

The Zotac EU policy gives 2nd hand owners the ability to RMA and only removes the extended warranty. It was not goodwill, they were legally compelled to do so. The same cannot be said of Zotac's US policy, where Zotact like any other company shows it's true colors and makes it's policy as restrictive as the law allows.

The biggest reason to buy OC/custom models is they usually make less noise sometimes a lot less noise so depending on how much that matters to you it could be worth it.

Most models seem to do fine though.

Don’t the trinity and the extream basicaly have the same cooler tho ?

Seems that way with Zotac so you should expect similar numbers to that graph I posted.

Otherwise slightly better PCB and RGB seem to be the only difference.

Although I will say this and it's the same with a gigabyte 4090 but man that is a lot of plastic for a card that cost over 1000 usd.

Il probly go with the zotac, I live in the uk so there warranty looks ok

I think you have the same odds of having a very good experience with all the AIBs so really if you like the card and are ok with the price I don't see anything wrong with that. You are always going to get X brand sucks only buy Y brand online but honestly that changes generation to generation.

They run ok..

It’s apart of there warrenty you can’t take apart the card so that means no repasting which sucks

I would legit get a 4070ti but the 12gb really put me off as I want 5 years out of the card

5 years might be a bit much these days, unless it is a flagship..

Those "warranty void if broken" stickers are not legally enforceable. This goes for both the US and EU. A company has to prove a customer damaged a product in order to void warranty, they cannot void warranty simply because someone performed regular and necessary maintenance such as re-pasting.

The only reason companies still use them is to trick customers into thinking they've voided their warranty.

I contacted Mai few years ago to repaste my 2080 and they told me I couldn’t

"The UK follows the lead of the EU, providing a legal guarantee allowing claims made up to six years after the initial time of purchase (five years for residents of Scotland). However, in this guarantee, established in the Consumer Rights Act of 2015, the burden of proof of a faulty product is only on the seller for the first six months. For self-repairs, the same logic as in the EU applies: a fix will never automatically void the legal warranty"

At those prices, the 4080 easily, much stronger feature set and broadness to it's performance, and perfectly good amount of VRAM for years to come, not to mention running cooler and quieter thanks to being considerably more efficient. By the time 16GB isn't enough, this GPU will be superseded two gens over.

Currently looking at 2 cards
4080 zotac trinity for £1050
7900xtx hell hound for £975

the goal is 1440p high refresh (90 plus) for along as possible

nvdia pros
Ray tracing
Upscaling better quality
Frame gen can use fsr3 and nvdias
Dual av1 encoders
Drivers
Power efficiency

Amd pros
24gb vram
More memory bandwidth
Anti lag plus ( looks better than nvdias boost)

im swaying towards nvdia mostly becuase quality dlss I think is acceptable way to play
But fsr is too shimmery for me

also I understand Sam works a lot better with a amd system which I don’t have
I have a 13600k with ddr4

amd temps me becuase of the bandwidth and extra vram may play a part 3-4 years down the line

what do you guys think ? What would you pick ?
As other users have mentioned, if you want good RayTracing performance, 4080(and Zotac is a great brand, one of my favs). If that is not important to you, 7900XTX. The extra VRAM will give the card longevity. If you're looking to keep your card for 3 or 4 years, the 7900XTX will stay relevant longer.

You just have to decide want is important to you now and what you think might be important to you in a few years.

For what its worth i had a zotac 2080 super and it was rock solid.
Zotac has one of my favorite third party cooler designs on the 4000 series.. love the looks of them.

That's all of North America not just US.

The Trinity OC is a bit meh in the looks dept.. I keep the lights off and my socks on with it.. but the upper models are super nice.

Also I mentioned some coil whine earlier in another post.. turns out it is a fan. Not sure if it is a tad loose, but I will investigate some other time :)
