NVIDIA today released the latest version of its GeForce software. Version 546.29 WHQL comes game-ready for "Cyberpunk 2077 Ultimate Edition," "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III Season 1," "Throne and Liberty," "Avatar: Frontiers of Pandora," and "Fortnite Chapter 5." Besides these game-specific performance optimizations, the game addresses just the one bug with this release—an updated application profile for "Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2."

Yeah, I’ll hold off for now. All the issues plaguing the 545 branch led to me going back to 537.58 and I see no point in updating until the word on the street is that the new version is relatively stable.

Issues such as? It's been pretty much rock solid on my 4080.

On my ancient 1070 there were issues with color settings and wonky GSync behavior that going back solved. On 40-series from what I hear stuttering in certain games is fairly prevalent. In general, I like taking a quick look at the release thread for any new driver on the r/NVIDIA. Reddit may be a hive of scum and villainy, but they do a good job documenting any and all issues, even those not acknowledged by NV, confirmed and unconfirmed. They also have a decent list of drivers that are considered stable by the larger population of both the subreddit itself and NV forums. Since I don’t play the latest and greatest, I have no need for newest drivers and usually just update once a quarter or so to a latest “considered stable” driver.
As always, this is all a YMMV.

I wish NVIDIA reported the Vulkan and D3D versions with the patch notes, so I could know what real fixes are included there, instead of just "X game is supported".

Mhm, nothing that has affected me thankfully. My 1070 Ti also hasn't been misbehaving from what I noticed so far.

If anything the latest driver fixed my LG G3 OLED not being detected as a G-Sync validated panel on my 4080 rig. They fixed it the same time they shipped the fix for the C3.

Generally if you are not affected by any given problem specifically mentioned in the hotfix, it is safe to skip it :)
