the first 4 ac games all run beautifully though, and at 1440p look amazing and hold up nicely. people forget that these old games scale well with new hardware. even dragon age origins looks beautiful at 27" 1440p. i feel so bad for console gamers.

Going to track down one of them and try. Be good to know.

Syndicate, is the one set in most modern years, right, lokks better than others (except Origins, yeah)

His big DLC is about "Jack l'évantreur" (Jack the ripper). Others DLCs are cosmetics, and also additionnal Last Maharaja's missions. 65gb+ (in 2015) !!

All of this comes with the Gold Edition.
I did laugh when I saw there was a Unity weapon pack available in game that wasn't included.

Ezio trilogy and Black Flag, surely, without a doubt. Honorable mention goes to Unity now that time has passed, bugs were ironed out and modern hardware easily runs it. Probably the most impressive open world rendition of an urban environment even still.
As a cheat I’ll also throw in the Prince of Persia trilogy. Not entirely disconnected seeing how AC started its life as PoP: Assassins.

the guides don't work anymore. if you click on the syndicate guide for example see below... I guess Nvidia too busy lubing the AI for anal optimization rather than maintain its own site.

Stopped doing new ones too a while ago. Official reason was, and I quote:

“Just a quick point on the NVIDIA Game Guides. We love doing them, but they require specific access to developer builds. That type of access varies from developer to developer. Our author has also been very engaged with writing content for GeForce News, so the pace of the guides slowed down.”

Sounds like BS to me personally. Like really, NVidia, the biggest GPU company in the planet, can’t arrange something with AAA developers to get a code or build for the game a week or two earlier? Come on.

Also now, games having Nvidia specific options are too many, DLSS, DLAA, FG... they dropped everything.

I mean, to play devils advocate here, what would they even suggest in terms of such features? “It’s awesome, an obvious improvement, buy the latest RTX and play ON”? They can’t really be expected to honestly test whether, say, DLSS is performing well in a particular game or whether developers implemented it in a way that makes default UE4 TAA with its ghosting a blessing. This is something that only third parties can be relied on and takes effort since, unlike older quality settings that they tested in their guide, for modern temporal stuff screenshots are absolutely useless. Yeah, it may look good on them, but who cares if the game turns into a smeary mess in motion?
God I miss old forward rendering with MSAA. Sure, not as graphically impressive as modern stuff, but at least you knew you’d get a clear image instead of it being a coin toss.

Noticed there were a lot of broken or disconnected links within the outer categories. Internal links are probably borked as well but the guides do load and could be very helpful to some.

Would be nice if Nvidia took the reins on new games they sponsor ($$$$ talks) and get a showcase, or two, each year release fully developed in tune with one of these guides allowing technical ease getting into the game with it fully functional. Task AI to compose an interactive free DLC that walks you through it in minutes while twiddling all the knobs you don't have access to in the background so it works and self adjusts based on your system behavior!!!:laugh::laugh:

This is turning out be one of the best gaming purchases I've ever made. In the end only a single change to files was required to get everything working smoothly on W11. No routing controller support through Steam or Ubi app open in the background.

AC I & ACII - No native controller support, easily added in game controls menu option for Wired Xbox 360 controller! Native 4K support! :D

I play AC:B on my LG C1 and it isn't more glorious only because my laptop's GTX1050 can't push the frames. Hence I play at a lovely 1440p120.

Never dawned on me I had a screen capable of those framerates sitting around.

Still have yet to put aside the idea of a PS Vita.

Would you mind expanding on why that is.

As much fun as Origins is I keep hearing Odyssey forgoes a lot to make the world larger. For instance there is hardly a road that goes straight for long anywhere in Origins. Apparently in Greece everything is pan flat and dead straight without variation (or water). That and the vast empty spaces compared to almost never being far from something interesting are what set me off on the path towards focusing on the older games.

Because I found it the most fun. I love the setting. The story is entertaining. The world is beautiful.

I have no clue why you would say the game world is "pan flat and dead straight without variation (or water)." The world is anything but those things. Sailing is a huge part of the game too. For the explorer in me, Odyssey has tons of hidden locations to find, on land and under water.

I could've been clearer. Trying to decide whether to buy it during sales or let memory of Origins fade to avoid burning out 40 hours in.

Over a few reviews people who played through to see every ending noticed where the filler was placed. They suggested you see a lot of rocky cliffs but rarely do anything but head towards where you need to go next by the fastest means possible by avoiding tricky routes. Or, most of the time you are on water which is typically pretty flat and typically not traversed like switchbacks or other obstacles have gotten in your way.

AC Black Flag remaster should be released sometime next year. Of the older games it's the one I'm holding off on buying so I can get the better version.

Watched some in game footage of Odyssey last night. Took all of 5 minutes and I picked up the Ultimate Edition.

Just finished installing AC: 3 right now to play Liberation.

Which assasin's creed game is closer to Unity/Syndicate Mirage or Origins ?
Unity/Syndicate both are decent games overall but i don't like Odyssey it's boring and unplayable.
Or let's say which game is closer to Odyssey Mirage or Origins ?

Just don't wanna waste my time on another Odyssey game without atmosphere....

I liked AC II & Brotherhood the most, never played Revelations. IIRC the last one I actually finished was AC III & I lost interest in IV at some point and never finished it.
Haven't played any after that, kind of got tired of playing "the same game but a bit different" at that point.

Hard not to be confused. Which non-RPG is most like the RPG that threw everything away to focus on a new direction?

None of them. Wait for the next AC.

I liked AC II & Brotherhood the most, never played Revelations. IIRC the last one I actually finished was AC III & I lost interest in IV at some point and never finished it.
Haven't played any after that, kind of got tired of playing "the same game but a bit different" at that point.

Rarely do players dislike IV, but IMO you didn't miss much with Revelations. I feel it's one of the worst in the series. In fact it seems they've gone back to that formula with Mirage because it too is bland looking and lacks interesting story, characters, and dialog.

I used to play literally every AC, Watch Dogs, and Ghost Recon that came out, now I pick and choose. Probably the only Ubi game in a while that has interested me is Avatar Frontiers of Pandora. It looks beautiful, runs well, and has gameplay that requires strategy.
