Homeworld 3 "War Games Demo" Available Until February 12

War Games mode fuses Homeworld's RTS gameplay with roguelike inspiration, charging commanders to take on a randomized series of fleet combat challenges. Claim powerful Artifacts that augment your ships with more power, speed, and, of course, weapons. Based on your results, you'll unlock new fleets to shake up your strategy. This demo, available to all Steam players starting February 5 at 10am PT until February 12 at 10am PT, supports up to three players as they engage waves of hostiles in a series of increasingly challenging encounters. Players can find teammates through Quick Match or create a lobby to team up with friends online.

It's important to note that any Fleets or Artifacts you unlock in the War Games demo will carry over when Homeworld 3 launches. For players not using Steam Cloud Saves, make sure you don't delete your demo files as we'll be sharing info on the exact transfer process later. Each level presents a greater challenge and new modifiers to your next War Games run. This demo will feature four different maps and a slew of things to unlock as you continue to play, including different starting fleets (maybe even an extra special one!) plus new Artifacts and more.




The free Homeworld 3: War Games demo lifts off February 5th -12th on Steam and Epic Games Store. Try the game mode solo or online with friends (3 players max).

I seriously hope the game isn't as stuttery as it is in the gameplay videos at launch.

But panning the camera against all those assets isn't pretty, clearly. I want this. It can be a bit stuttery in the end game, that's expected, but the base experience shouldn't...

Cool, downloading the demo.

edit: The controls are ..well.. not as great as I thought it was with the original. I member being easier to maneuver and attack but maybe I picked the wrong controls in the tutorial.
There were a few hiccups at the start of the tutorial but none in multiplier. As for graphics they look okay in my book.

Outstanding!

Downloaded and tested it quickly on the tutorial.

Graphics are a mixed bag, some details are cool like shadows and damage on asteroids, others seem like standard Remastered stuff.
on a 7800XT, FPS ran from 25 to 100 (vsynced) on an UW monitor, all maxed out. A bit sluggish when you zoom out.
A few visual glitches like a turret deployed on an asteroid but never truly made contact.
Ship design are an improvement.
Audio is quite standard compared to Remastered.

My major gripe is the controls. some seem over complicated, I hope they leave an option for classic controls.

I agree, but classic controls were a choice in several assets when starting.

They also mention it specifically here which makes me think it wont be removed.

I can barely wait. In the meantime HALO 2 is out on Paramount+! I just watched 2 episodes last night! Then I bought the "Master Chief Collection" special on Steam. I am going to play the **** out of Master Chief collection. I can wait on Homeworld 3 until the polished May release. By the way I got dusted on my first play in Homeworld 3 Demo.
