PC hardware exhibitionists will pleased to discover that NBROS—a Japanese DIY parts specialist—is about to release display stands for CPUs and M.2 SSDs. News outlets were alerted to new retail listings on Yodobashi.com by an ever trusty internet sleuth: momomo_us. The CPU display stand (NB-CPU-DP07) and M.2 SSD display stand (NB-M2SSD-DP06) models are available to purchase, although the shipping date appears to be February 29—implying that you can only pre-order at this stage in time. The made-in-Japan CPU stand is priced at ¥1850 (~$12.34) including VAT, while the M.2-oriented display piece comes in at ¥2180 (~$14.54)—both offered with free delivery options.

The NBROS NB-CPU-DP07 display stand is formed of black-painted iron plating, with a stated thickness of 1.6 mm—overall dimensions seem to be 65 x 65 x 50 mm, and it weighs roughly 80 grams according to the Yodobashi listing. The display surface dimensions are not documented, but accompanying photos indicate that all sorts of CPU footprints are supported—including EPYC and Xeon profiles. The retail package bundles in a few helpful extras: a suction pad, rubber feet and an instruction manual. The NB-M2SSD-DP06 model is a larger and heftier prospect, with 85 x 100 x 95 mm dimensions and an approximate weight of 250 g. The NBROS 1.6 mm thick metal plate construction is once again employed, but the NB-M2SSD-DP06's accessory pack differs slightly—you get a set of mounting screw instead of a suction pad. The chunkiest and most robust M.2 2280 designs can be fastened onto its display stand.

So I have to ask those N bros if they can sell me a silicon wafer stand. Must be 3nm compatible though.

It's not totally weird, is it?
I have a dead 2080 Ti I use as a "display" because, well, it's dead and I haven't found had the heart to dispose of it yet. And the original packaging accommodated that.

I don't say this often, but this PR is clearly rage-bait for TPU.
I mean, I'm not raging about it, but more like confused because I didn't think there was a market for selling CPU and SSD stands

Oh, well ... i have a hare... errr collection of 25 already, but they aren't suitable for CPU holding ... aside the Master chief... but that one is suited to hold a Xbox gamepad ... the PIII Xeon i have would tip it over and if not ... hide everything above waist .... and he's 25.10cm tall

There actually is, unironically. That market mostly belongs to hardware related media. Presenting CPUs in a 3D way isn't always easy. Most of the times you have to take pictures\video of them from above, or against an object.

This sort of solves this issue... in case you don't have access for a 3D printer to solve it yourself.

While I agree that there is a market for all those influencers and wannabe-influencers out there, it seems transparent or translucent stands would do a better job for them.

While these products are certainly... products.... I don't find the idea of displaying some computer parts as wall art in the appropriate setting (an office or garage or something) inherently weird.

I've had a project in the back of my mind for a while to breakdown one of my older GPUs, the legendary 8800GTS, and display it in a shadow box completely deconstructed. I'd do the same for my HD4850 and some other cards I've had through out the years that are either broken or too old to even resell at this point.

Another thought was making some wall art with all of the processors I have accrued over the years.

There is a kind of weird beauty in some core computer components, but I think you have to do a little something with it, not just plop it on a stand and call it a day.

It's not weird at all. I have old PC game boxes hanging up on my wall with double sided tape. My room is fucking nostalgia and I love it. My limited edition Civilization III tin is also on display.

This is a decent idea really, not for me personally, but I definitely can see the appeal.

You understand we want some objective measurements, right? Such as short and long term stability with a few different CPUs, temperature rise when exposed to direct sunlight, black colour purity and uniformity, wall/ceiling/VESA mount options, performance of electrostatic dust repulsion system (if present), and more. Theft protection? Space for name plates and stickers? Possible patent disputes because of rounded edges?

Ill go further and add in other mentions like: How does it handle in bathroom conditions or colour accuracy of the black.

Why paint them black? I mean, if I bought a platinum stand, it would be for showing off that it's made of platinum. Am I missing something?
