Honeywell ptm7950 experience for gpu :)

I may have spoken too soon i'm seeing lower hotspot temps in games and benchmarks Its only AIDA gpu stress test has has it going much higher.
Are 96ºC on the memory, normal for that card ?

Yes but i'm going to address that.

Should arrive tomorrow!

My ptm7950 sheet had amazing results on 4090 for about 6 months - the hot spot temps started creeping back up to 100C and there was a bald spot when I took it apart.

it does ultimately pump out - replaced with kryosheet and that worked extremely well - has been on there with no issues for about 6 months and no change in temps.

I wonder how thick they make them because I may try them on my Dell XPS Gen 1 laptop for the chipset and gpu

theyre pretty thick and actually easy to put on - so I think as long as your cooler / chip contact doesnt have any defects it's probably fine. It does take a few runs to settle in though the initial performance is pretty terrible.

Still overall I would say if pump out is your worry just use a kryosheet and never have to think about it again.

PTM7950 AFAIK is what nvidia uses as OEM on their FE cards which is why I swapped it with the same initially.

Just a little update on PTM 7950 long term results with my 4070 Ti TUF card temps were 10-11C delta between core and hotspot for the first 4-5 months, 7 months later now it's 13-15C delta, guess this stuff degrades after serveral months.

I am using a Thermalright Heilos pad, its ok still, been a few months. MSFS kicks the hotspot up to 80, no matter what I do. Its still better than what was there before.

Also, that is +150 on the core for a bit over 3GHz, +1500 on the mems.

Update: temps are the same or maybe slight better after a year. Ptm7950 on gpu, direct die cpu or notebook really worth it :)

What are the temp under load? I've seen report of degradation/pump out on notebooks with 80C+ over time. Some ptm7950 are not genuine. It may perform quite good, but not like the original.

PTM will pump out over time, way less than paste due to the higher viscosity, but it still liquifies under load so uneven heatsink pressure + high temps will still pump it out. If you have a more or less even heatsink it will last much longer than paste.

If you want guaranteed no pump out you want something like a thermal grizzly kryosheet.

I've had mine on the 4090 for over a year now - temps stay the same.

Does anyone know where I can get legit PTM 7950 in the UK? I can find it online here and there, including couple of vendors on Amazon UK, but I'm concerned maybe not legit

The only guranteed legit vendor I have found is moddiy, but they ship from China.

I bought a used Gainward 2060 super ghost that had just been repasted with mx6. Tested superposition with 1080p extreme 8k optimized.

I repasted with ptm7950 and it worked fine as usual.

Core 2C lower, hotspot 4.6C lower, fanspeed 110rpm lower.

Both were tested at 1455@700mv uv with 15GHz vram

After many runs I increased to a more aggressive UV:

Using 5W more gave same temps and same fan rpm so ptm7950 began working it's wonders of gradually improving performsnce slightly ;)
