Welcome to week 40, which is also the beginning of October and another week packed full of new game releases. This week's major release is a F2P MMORPG by NCSoft, for those that are into those kinds of things. This is followed by an animal horror game, an open world zombie survival, an arcade inspired isometric action shooter of sorts, some roguelike magic, a remake of a 2015 adventure game and finally a Japanese co-op action RPG. In addition to this, the first DLC for Starfield is out this week.

Throne and Liberty / This week's major release / Tuesday 1 October
Welcome to Throne and Liberty, a free-to-play MMORPG that takes place in the vast open world of Solisium. You can scale expansive mountain ranges for new vantage points, scan open skies, traverse sprawling plains, explore a land full of depth and opportunity. Adapt your fight to survive and thrive through strategic decisions in PvP, PvE or both as you encounter evolving battlefields impacted by weather, time of day, and other players. There is no single path to victory as you seek to defeat Kazar and claim the throne while keeping rival guilds at bay. Steam link

Zoochosis / Monday 30 September
This is your first night shift as a zookeeper. You find out that some animals are infected and turning into mutants. Save them and save yourself. Unravel the mystery of the zoo. Choose wisely. Your choices will determine your ending. Steam link

Dread Dawn / Tuesday 1 October
This is an open-world zombie survival sandbox game set in a city quarantined due to an unknown virus. You will play as a student in the city who failed to catch the evacuation convoy to escape the disaster and was forced to stay. As a modern metropolis, the city is fully equipped with public facilities including hospitals, subway stations, prisons, and schools, Etc. Steam link

Kill Knight / Wednesday 2 October
Dance with death in the Abyss, and unveil intricate layers of gameplay lurking beneath the surface. Exploit enemy weaknesses, enact brutal executions, weave through your arsenal to tactically manage resources, and unleash destructive wrath blasts to turn the tide. Every encounter is testament to your mastery. Steam link

Wizard of Legend 2 / Thursday 3 October/ Early Access
In an age of myth and magic, ambitious wizards from around the world have assembled to undertake the perilous Trials of Legend in the Floating Lands. Many will try. Most will fail. Only those who have truly mastered the chaotic, shifting elemental forces of Arcana will become a Wizard of Legend! Steam link

Until Dawn / This week's remake / Friday 4 October
When eight friends return to the isolated lodge where two of their group vanished a year prior, fear tightens its icy grip, and their mountain retreat descends into a nightmare with no escape. Face your fears and determine who survives Until Dawn in this seminal horror classic, rebuilt and enhanced for PC. Steam link

Sword Art Online Fractured Daydream / Friday 4 October
Galaxia, a new system allowing players to relive the past, has been added to ALfheim Online; however, Galaxia spins out of control causing players from all over time and space to be displaced! To set the timeline back on track, Kirito must work with fallen friends...and foes. Steam link

Im most likely going to give ToL a go because its F2P but mainly because I want to see how much of a GW2 clone it is. It gives me a certain oldschool GW1 nostalgia and im hoping for more of a GW1 but on steroids than a GW2. I have never enjoyed GW2.

::EDIT::

Its also built with UE4 instead of the same engine that GW was built on. So its already a huge improvement right there.

Good work Sony. Now If only the people from my region had any dignity and stop purchasing your consoles after all...

Don't waste your time. Thank me later.

games are subjective. I know a lot of people that loved GW1 that also love GW2. I dont lose anything by giving it a look

I should've mention it's a P2W game of a worst kind. Pardon my laziness. It might save some time for a fellow forum members figuring out. Cheers.

I watched a bit of shroud playing ToL last night and when I say a bit I mean like 5 minutes because they were talking about how it only takes a few hundred dollars to get fully speced out gear in the game as compared to the $250,000 USD he spent on lost arc. And that's when I left and lost complete interest in the game.

Throne and Liberty is developed by NCSoft, instant blacklist.
Early access MTX packs for a game already out in other regions? Blacklist.
Pay for power leveling pass and battle pass? Blacklist
Auction house? Blacklist
Three different main currencies? Believe it or not, blacklist
It seems like there has been changed made. Sounds a bit like Diablo 3.
Its literally like early Diablo 3 in the regard of being able to use pay real money for buying items on the auction house
  • Lucent - Players can acquire Lucent by purchasing it with real-world money, earning it through specific PvP encounters (such as Castle Sieges and Tax Delivery Events), or by selling eligible items on the Auction House. Additional opportunities for acquiring Lucent may be added in the future.

I think in weeks like this one with a remake of a perfectly fine current gen compatible game there should be an option in the poll like "I'll play the original version and save money instead of buying the cash grab".

If they remade classics that are not available on modern platforms it would be one thing, but this is available in the PS4 so why bother. Sure release it on PC and recompile it for the PS5 with new gen improvements why not, but asking full price for it is nuts.

THIS WEEK ON STEAM ONLY

dread dawn looks fun-ish
Also a side note Starcraft is coming to game pass in November if anyone is interested

THIS WEEK ON STEAM ONLY
Seriously? I don't decide where the games are sold. I've also been told by management to include links to steam.
If you're not happy about it, you're free to ask for a refund of your monthly subscription fee to TPU.

I'm... torn, hear me out.

F2P Asian MMO... really?, another one?, it looks like a cashgrab mtx infested crack den, i mean graphic are good and all that but i don't see the need for ANOTHER F2P MMO, isn't the market absolutely saturated by now?.

Also, what's with that stupidity of releasing it in asia then 8+ months later rest of the world?
i've seen several MMO that have done this.

Let's move to others:
SAO... ¿why?, leave it as anime, don't make games based on a aniem that depicts a very futuristic mmo with neural connection in our "current" tech, it will never work out well.
horror.. lost me
survival open w.. lost me, that means "we're too lazy to write a campaign, here's a glorified SDK disguised as a game"
bullet storm type game.. nah

The Wizards game looks cool. I may also give Throne and Liberty a try, it looks interesting. I've been reading it's a bit pay to win, but I'm just trying to have a fun adventure, not win any competitions, so I'm not sure that'll bother me. The only thing I won't like is any requirements to farm or grind for stuff.

Dread Dawn looks interesting, but the reviews on Steam are absolutely terrible.
