Any ideas what temp my M/B should be ?, current readings in Systool are:

Motherboard -CPU External Temprature 32c

Motherboard -CPU Intrenal Temperature 30.5c

Motherboard -System Temperature 60.5c...has been up to 71c

I guess the CPU temps are OK but the M/B system temp seems a bit high to me, a friend has got virtually the same set up as me and his M/B temp is around the 21c mark, although his his CPU temps are similar if not a bit lower.

Any Ideas?

update the bios to see if the issue is a badly programmed sensor, it wouldnt be the first time a board coming from an asus factory shows the wrong temperatures,

then theres rule of thumb, touch the heatsink to make sure that reading has something to do with the real world (touch, not grab, 71 degrees is HOT) in this case the chipset heatsink would be the point to touch, if its actually 71 degrees, then your board is defective, RMA it, a ULI 1695 wont last long at 70 degrees,

Where is the "system temperature" read anyway? I found the datasheet for the LM78 and it supports 1 external and 1 internal temp sensor so maybe the external is the CPU and the internal is the system temp?

I don't know if your board has the LM78 but it's fairly common for hardware monitoring.

Don't know what's happpening with your system but if that 6oºc is accurate you have a problem somewhere.

Thanks for the interest from you guys, looks like an RMA coming up. I did update the bios
and the temp seems to run now at 60-63c, still too hot though

Cheers
