AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D & 9900X3D Gaming Performance Akin to Ryzen 7 9800X3D

I think the opposite will more likely to happen, more choices when it comes to Zen 5 X3D CPUs will probably help bring the price for 9800X3D back closer to MSRP.

If history will to repeat itself, the 7900X3D which wasn't very popular because nobody wants it was discounted heavily so maybe the same could happen to the 9900X3D.
The problem is, that some stores, like MicroCenter can sell the 9800X3D for MSRP, while most of others, don't do that. Including official AMD partners and distributors. Amazon, for example, was cought to sell it north of $600-$650. Many sell higher than $800-$900, for the eight core CPU. No amount of demand and popularity, can justify the double price increase.

This isn't only about the supply, this is about the greed. AMD has to sort out the things out, and represent them equally in all regions, and calm down the apetite of the sellers, and official distribuors, because at this point, X3D parts fame make the disservice, up to the point, that people go buy the regular non-3D-Vcashe SKUs. This is probably the matter of time, until the sellers/distributors will claim "high demand" for these as well, and hike the price. It's unclear, if the AMD themselves are profiting from this supply constrains, and how much of this price increase, is their %%.

I still have the 5950x with the 6950xt. It's the GPU that causes me problems with the newer games.
It depends on the game I think. For some games I prefer my 5900X and others I prefer my 58X3D. I play at 3840x2160

AMD would have a great opportunity to release a 9999X3D later with dual 3D chiplets, though I doubt that it's going to happen.

That naming would just be so damn cool.

Going to consider the 9950x3d if I get a decent ten year bonus at work this April even though I have a 7950x3d. I like the 16 core parts a lot, and I'm happy to sacrifice a little gaming performance and a little rendering performance to get near the top performance in both. One thing that might give me pause is the increased power as the 7950x3d uses less power than my 5950x did in the same all core workload.

Apparently, and all of a sudden - as good as last time is now "good" and somehow not "stagnation"

Somehow and for some reasons - the sweet spot GPU doing so well and not materially being beaten for like 5 years is not "stagnation". I guess its only those things if its not-AMD.

Hopefully these two CPUs will ease the supply pressure on the 9800X3D

I'm running a 9900X and a 5800X3D here right now and I'm itching to swap out the 5800X3D before I grab either a 5070Ti or a 9070X (depending on reviews of both)

I'm not betting on it unfortunately, too much demand.

The only way I can recommend this CPU is if the 3D cache is even spread across both CCX dies. Otherwise, it's not worth the premium over the 9950X

I totally agree and if they haven't fully perfected which CCD should be used in a specific game like the 7950x3D. The 9800x3D will be faster overall in games due to there being no dual CCD latency penalties from having both CCDs communicating with one another while gaming.

Now, if it turns out AMD has perfected the dual CCD issue with which one to use in gaming and it turns out to be a great overclocker. I may consider one. I currently have my 9800x3D OCed to 5.67Ghz by utilizing PBO+200, Asynchronous eCLK of 104.5, and curve optimizer. I have a new Gskill DDR5 6000 CL26 @ 1.40v kit further tightened up and UCLK = MCLK 1:1 along with FCLK being set from the stock 2000 to 2200. The increased FCLK noticeably improved performance with the RAM.

That's not something I care about. It's not a big concern. Every high end CPU made can handle with ease anything games can throw at them. What's more concerning is the inter-CCX latency for the 3D cache. I would rather not have the 3D cache than deal with that latency. That may seem counter intuitive, but there are reasons for it. I'd just go with a Threadripper.
