When we found out that the PS3 was more popular than the Wii in Japan as far as sales went a couple weeks ago, most people scoffed. After all, Sony had just released the PS3 40GB, you can almost expect better sales. But it seems as though there's something more to it, as PS3 sales are strong for the second week in a row. Here are the overall Japanese sales figures for the week ending November 18th.
  • DS Lite - 76,069
  • PSP - 65,609
  • PS3 - 39,178
  • Wii - 36,230
  • PS2 - 8,855
  • Xbox 360 - 6,525
  • GBA SP - 153
  • GBM - 109
  • GC - 38
  • DS - 15

That's fine of course...except that no one can get hold of a Wii, no wonder they aren't selling as well.

A market can only get so saturated before it goes flat, a few months ago the Wii was shifting a few hundred thousand ago so unless people buy more than one of each console it is pretty obvious the popular consoles sales will subside in a saturated market. Lack of stock in some areas and a saturated market.

BEEP BEEP RICHIE!! (wrong clown i think)

Yeah, I'd say that almost everybody in Japan that wants a Wii, already has one, why would they keep buying more? Anybody know what the total sales are so far?

Surprising number is how well the PSP is doing. I guess the recent release of games for the handheld gaming device is really starting to pay off.

What is really surprising is that the PS2 is still beating the 360 out.

thats what i said, no wonder sony is still updating the ps2 and stuff, its more into japanese sales instead of our sales.

People are still buying GBA? :p

Whats a GBM?

Whats a GBM?
It's a GameBoy Micro.
It's a normal GameBoy, just smaller :D

LOl even I knew that and something seems fishy about those sales fiugures. Only 15 DS's sold for the week that just doesnt make sense thsince thats less than the number of Gamecubes that were sold

DS is the old version, they are only producing the Lite's now.

Is the GC on that list game cube? didnt think they where made any longer.
