Such progress

Does anyone remember Grendizer? It was a Cartoon in the early 80s that ran on Canadian TV in the morning, That and G force were my first introduction to Japanese Anime. Now they have a Game that takes the Music, theme and characters from the Anime/Manga and you get an absolute Gem that more people should be talking about, There is no doubt that Giant Robots seems to be the focus of the talent right right now. I look forward to this but the other one in the channel with the Dead or Alive hook is looking really good. MechWarrior 5 is too clunky for someone that grew up on Danguard Ace. Bring them on.

I just watched the Video. The got me at Getter Robo.

Seems like it's the aesthetic that the series always went for, and it's popular in Asia. They are probably having an insane ROI :D.There are probably just testing the waters here to see if it's worth localizing the serie in the west.

That is why I mentioned Grendizer

I watched the French dub of that series, when staying with relatives near Paris - back in the nineties. Club Dorothée (a kids variety show) aired a whole bunch of old school anime franchises at the time.
Unfortunately, it took UK broadcasters about a decade to catch up.

These games are extremely long. Having hours (50+) of just text to read in between battles and if this is like 30th then the story also has lots of branches to it. Also with all of the licensed properties and music I'm not surprised they are not using top end 3D graphics. They probably spend most of the development time and resources on the story and events. Which means the team is mostly comprised of level designers etc, instead of artists and animators.
