Surprise Reversal: GeForce RTX 5090 Found with Too Many ROPs, Matches RTX Pro 6000, +8% Performance

That was a good one.

In an era of brick-sized GPUs, AMD should tease us with marketing material like this. Pretty much everyone misses the R9 Nano.

last week there was a news piece saying the LC wasn't selling, is this 192 ROPs card made on purpose to attract potential gamblers I wonder
By the end of last week they were sold out already. It was at micro center

This one was easy, no way in hell NV would make a mistake which'd give their buyers more than what they paid for
Good ol' days with soft-moddable GF6 series and bios-moddable GTX 465...

So its a lootbox GPU with users not knowing what they are going to get.
Expensive lootboxes, no thanks, besides is not like I can sell extra ROPs on ebay:laugh: with the description:

Suitable for the new 9070 XT but comes with no PhysX. Buyers pay return.

LOL. April 1st joke article !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You got me there for a sec!!!

My guess? Check your calendar.

bingo!

(would’ve been “gotten“ if I hadn’t read this...)

kudos to the TPU staff, awesome April fools joke… the best, mixing the truth. IMO, up there with the best of the April fool jokes on tech sites…

TOO MANY ROPS, BAHAHAHAHAHA THIS ONE GOT ME

Talk about silicon lottery.

Edit: Oh crap, got me.

Good work, you totally had me! It's written in such a normal tone with some very plausible fake benchmark numbers, I was starting to wonder whether paying whatever the ludicrous MSRP is for this model would be worth it!

That article about the LC not selling was fake news... additionally, you can't do a whole special card in a week.

Probably April Fools as others have mentioned. It got me too at first
Irrespective of April Fools this series of cards is a serious Lootbox- black screen, melting connectors, Physx support dropped, missing RoPs, and now newly discovered issue of no support for encoding/decoding 10bit videos. You never know new stinky turd is going to pop out of the box.

Thanks! We really tried to write it in the same way we'd write it if it was real. We also spent some extra time on coming up with plausible performance scores that look just right ;)

Yeah fuck 5000 series, it's just a joke all round. Yes, the 5090 is the best, but that's just because AMD decided to stop trying. Every year after, what, 2021 has absolutely sucked for tech and I'm sick of it. The Cheeto's trade war probably isn't gonna help

Every year after 2019 has sucked for the most part.

I think we finally have a generation of cards more memeworthy than the GTX480.

Nvidia’s calendar has April 1st 365 days a year. ;)

Whatever, the point is, this lack of innovation across the entire tech spectrum is getting extremely annoying. I keep binging annoucement and tech news hoping something will wow me and give me that sweet burst of adrenaline from the good old days, but every single gosh darn company does nothing but excel... at being greedy idiots.
