be quiet!, the renowned German manufacturer of premium PC components, is expanding its product portfolio into gaming peripherals with the introduction of Dark Mount and Light Mount—two brand-new mechanical keyboards designed for enthusiasts who demand precision, comfort, and durability. Available in both linear and tactile Silent Switches variants, these keyboards combine premium materials with a minimalist aesthetic, delivering a seamless typing experience with an amazing smooth sound profile for gamers, creators, and professionals alike. Alongside these peripherals, be quiet! also launches its first software tool: IO Center for Windows, which offers users complete control over their peripherals, plus a web-based version called IO Center Web, which works on various operating systems.

Aaron Licht, CEO of be quiet!, says: "With Dark Mount and Light Mount, we're not just entering a new product category—we're setting a new benchmark for what gamers and creators should expect from their keyboards. These models reflect everything be quiet! stands for: smart engineering, understated design, and a relentless focus on performance without compromise. We've put great care into the acoustics, the feel of every keystroke, and the overall user experience. This launch is the beginning of an exciting new chapter for us, and we're proud to bring our expertise in silence and quality to the world of peripherals."

Dark Mount: A statement of power and precision
Dark Mount is designed for those who appreciate a bold, sophisticated look. With its sleek black finish and sturdy chassis, it exudes a commanding presence on any desk setup. This keyboard is built for professionals and gamers who demand reliability and precision.

With its innovative hot-swappable Numpad and Media Dock, users can tailor their keyboard setup to their specific needs. The detachable Numpad can be positioned on either side of the keyboard for added flexibility, while the Media Dock, with its dedicated media keys and display, offers intuitive controls for volume and playback. The ergonomic split Palm Rest and stackable, magnetic riser feet for three angled wrist positions enhance comfort during extended use, making Dark Mount ideal for long work sessions and gaming marathons.

Additionally, Dark Mount features 8 customizable Display Keys, which provide dynamic, programmable shortcuts for enhanced productivity and efficiency. Each Display Key supports 140x140 pixel images; whether used for quick access to applications, macros, or system controls, these keys deliver unparalleled convenience.

All keys on Dark Mount are fitted with high-quality PBT double-shot keycaps, while an arched ARGB diffuser is added under the switches for a bright and even per-key illumination. The brushed aluminium top plate further expands upon this lighting by implementing ARGB around its edges for a unique atmospheric effect.

Light Mount: Advanced media control with unique lighting effects
For users who prefer a clean and modern aesthetic, Light Mount offers a striking minimalist design that is complemented by high-quality materials to ensure durability and comfort. A programmable, aluminium 3D Media Wheel allows users to take control of their music and videos including support for volume and mute functionality; additionally, 5 dedicated mechanical macro keys can be programmed to control media or set to game-specific actions.
Light Mount comes with high-quality PBT double-shot keycaps with translucent legends, and the same arched ARGB diffuser under each switch for a bright, even per-key illumination. To extend the ARGB effects of this keyboard, the brushed aluminium top plate includes a bright LED bar at the top edge, while two LED bars on the sides of the keyboard create a unique underglow effect. Folding feet with three angled positions and a modular magnetic Palm Rest round off Light Mount with great ergonomics.

Precision-engineered Silent Switches and advanced sound dampening
To ensure a premium typing experience, Dark Mount and Light Mount are equipped with high-quality mechanical Silent Switches, developed in-house by be quiet! through a meticulous production process. These switches undergo rigorous testing to guarantee consistent actuation, durability, and smooth operation, and support Full N-key rollover and anti-ghosting, ensuring every keystroke is registered flawlessly.

The orange (linear) Silent Switch variant delivers ultra-smooth keystrokes with minimal resistance, making it ideal for fast-paced gaming and rapid typing. Meanwhile, the black (tactile) Silent Switch version provides a satisfying bump with every press, ensuring accuracy and responsiveness. All switches and stabilizers are pre-lubricated for enjoyable gaming and typing - something usually only done in the DIY scene - and are hot-swappable with support for 5-pin MX-style switches.
A sophisticated three-layer dampening system (silicone on Dark Mount, foam on Light Mount) minimizes keystroke noise while maintaining a satisfying tactile response. The internal sound-dampening materials are carefully engineered to reduce vibrations and echo, creating a whisper-quiet typing experience without compromising feedback. This makes Dark Mount and Light Mount ideal for quiet environments while retaining the premium feel expected from a high-end mechanical keyboard.

Introducing be quiet! IO Center and IO Center Web
Dark Mount and Light Mount keyboards are fully compatible with be quiet!'s new IO Center for Windows software, offering users complete control over their keyboard settings, lighting, and macro customization. With an intuitive interface, IO Center enables users to create personalized key assignments, and adjust ARGB lighting effects with precision. Additionally, the IO Center Web app works with Chromium-based browsers on Windows, macOS, and Linux. This powerful software ecosystem ensures a truly personalized typing experience tailored to each user's needs.

If you're going to charge €260 for it, might as well charge it extra €50 and put hall effect switches on it.

Custom switches will do just that, via no economy of scale.

I appreciate them going with a modular design to bring something new to the scene, but custom switches is something they could have done without. At least for their initial lineup. I also appreciate Linux support, even of it's via the web browser.
