I'm going to leave this until it's fully launched and out of early access.
Every time I play a game that involves exploration or discovery, it takes a lot of fun and excitement out of the final product when I come back to play the complete, finished version.

Subnautica was awesome, there's no way I'm going to ruin the sequel with my impatience.

Agreed, I did that for Zero and never finished it when it was out.

The original Subnautica is groundbreaking but yea the sequel was kinda meh. This looks like return to form for the devs but I won't buy until late EA/out of EA.

You mean Below Zero? I don't think it was really a sequel. AFAIK it was a smaller story-based DLC that didn't require the base game as it was a completely separate (albeit much smaller) map than the base game.

I enjoyed it enough to finish it, it only occupied me for around a quarter as long as the base game though.

Zero was something I wanted to buy. They ruined it in my point of view.

Maybe they do it right. I do not like multiplayer games. It should be an offline and single player game.

If you haven't played Zero and you liked Subnautica, it's still worth playing.
It's not as good as the original, but it still ticks most of the same boxes and that means it's a 7/10 game rather than a 9/10 for me.
