As part of the 30th anniversary celebration for Mobile Suit Gundam Wing, Bandai Namco Entertainment America Inc. is collaborating to bring "Operation Meteor" to Blizzard Entertainment, Inc.'s cross-platform and free-to-play team-based action game Overwatch 2. The iconic Mobile Suits—Wing Gundam Zero (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz), Gundam Epyon (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing), Gundam Deathscythe Hell (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz) and Tallgeese (Mobile Suit Gundam Wing)—come to life as Legendary skins for Mercy, Ramattra, Reaper, and Soldier: 76, respectively. The renowned art team at Blizzard Entertainment worked closely with Bandai Namco Entertainment to ensure the perfect blend of Mobile Suits from Gundam Wing meshed with Overwatch 2 heroes. These new Legendary skins are now available to purchase in-game on every platform Overwatch 2 is available on: Windows PC via Battle.net, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch consoles.

An optimistic vision of near-future Earth, Overwatch 2 is about a world worth fighting for, where super soldiers, scientists, cyborgs, and omnics clash for control of real-world-inspired locations from around the globe. Overwatch 2's 43 unique heroes—each armed with potent abilities and weaponry—battle across a variety of lively maps and locales, where players must work together and adapt to a variety of unique situations.

Relive those first memories of watching Gundam Wing in the collaboration announcement trailer:

Mobile Suit Gundam Wing is one of the first instances of the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise making major inroads in the West. The fan-favorite series follows five teenage Gundam pilots in the year After Colony 195; with the start of "Operation Meteor," the outer space colonies plan to free themselves from the oppressive rule of OZ and the Earth Sphere Alliance. With complex, interconnected storylines, Gundam Wing enthralled the West with both drama and intense mecha combat. Debuting 30 years ago in Japan, Gundam Wing remains one of the most popular series in Gundam's history.

Daaaamn, GW is turning 30 years old?! Like a lot of Western Gundam fans, Wing was my introduction to the franchise and still remains my favorite Gundam series. GW also got me into plastic model kits and needless to say, I've built quite a few of them throughout the years, and a handful of which I'm extremely proud of.

I still watch Endless Waltz every Christmas, alongside Die Hard and Bad Santa.

Remember Gundam had their own Overwatch?

I remember reading about this and seeing it on steam somewhere.... Apparently one of the biggest complaints was that it was just a reskinned overwatch because the mechs themselves didnt handle like mechs.

Gundam Wing was also my introduction to the genre. At that time, many of the older series were unavailable in the US. When RightStuf obtained distribution rights, I started buying a lot of the older series on DVD/Blu-ray. I should rewatch Wing as it too is still my favorite.

I didn't get into the plastic model kits mostly because I wanted the perfect grade editions, which are quite expensive. I collected more of the Bandai figures and some Fix Figuration.

May I ask which model kits did you build?
