What's your latest tech purchase?

Please give some feedback, comparison, w/e, after you try it out.
So far it's been good. It feels nice in the hand and there's quality feel to the controller. I've only spent a few hours with it playing Metaphor: ReFantazio. I'll let you know after I've tried some other games.

I have a few of those, they're very good quality so far.

$13 is a good price for a quality USB 3 hub

NF-A8 80mm Noctua Chromax Fan for my 12vhpwr lol its almost inaudible at full speed, Wireview Pro started building up heat through an 80c alert since heaters are on in the house now due to cold season. Down to <65C at 640w load lol.

so now power connectors also need fans? wow

This is mainly due to wireview pro I believe since there is 600w going through it and no way to dissipate heat from the resistance it adds due to my watercooling setup not having the most ideal airflow config for internal components hence why a little bit of air is improving temps by 15-20C

Im in a pickle trying to clone my Kioxia G3 to a Samsung 990 Pro Evo. There is no free software for me to use and i've plugged the two drives into my main PC for Acronis (WD edition) to run but its been running 20hrs. barely budged and still gives me an ETA of 1day. :fear:

So...

Apparently this thing can clone a drive in 15-30mins and doesnt require software or a license for said software to use. I did consider buying an Acronis key but they are obscenely expensive for a one user and I think they moved to an online subscription model? Its just not worth it to me.

--

Ive even installed Samsung Magician to see if it will do a reverse clone (The 990 in a USB dock...) but SM wont recognise it.

I honestly didnt want to buy the SSD cloner but im going to have to take it on the chin as an investment. Toshiba really need to make their own commercial drive cloning/data backup software that works. Apparently OCZ had their own software or worked for free with Acronis True Image back in the day.

Im not willing to leave my machine on another 24hrs like this.

Let us know how it went. :)

I'm also curious if it can clone drives with BTRFS partitions on them, but I understand if that's not among your expectations.

Probably not.

I think someone gave it a 1* review because they tried clone their PS5 drive with it and it wouldnt copy the data over.

I was sick of how hot my room was getting. In the middle of summer, while gaming and with my server running, it can get up to well over 80°F.

Running the central air works, but once the rest of the house is cool, obviously it stops. Since the heat sources are in my room, that's a problem.

So today I got a mini-split installed.

Now it's actually a nice temperature in here, even while gaming.

It's a 9000 BTU 18 SEER unit from Mitsubishi. On the lowest setting, it's exceptionally quiet (and I'm a silence freak), and so far it has been great.

Even the outdoor unit stays very quiet during operation (much quieter than our old central system).

mind if I ask where you bought this from? what store? I'm in the market for something similar, though I only need 6000 BTU as my room is only 144 square foot.

We've got those exact units at work - they're super strong.

I got it from One Hour Heating and Air (mainly because our 23-year-old central unit died and they had a guy out here very quickly after we called them).

It was pretty pricy, and I probably overpaid, but it's good to have this kind of thing professionally installed. The installers were also very punctual and got the install done in about 2 hours (including running a new 240V circuit for it).

Also worth noting that my room is about 120 sq ft. These units have variable-speed compressors, so I'd guess it'll just run at lower power if oversized for the room.

Yeah, I'm pretty sure we have these same units at work too. There's one in the server room, and it's always nice and cool in there.

We have a Mitsubishi HyperHeat and the thing works great. No complaints at all. Super efficient and quiet compared to the window shakers it replaced.

Complements of @the54thvoid

This thing is very heavy duty and I think I will get some support to hold it up

No, the 2025 model. [linky].

I also see the stock tires are 32mm but it can take up to 35mm. Will ride nice if you do a little light gravel/off-roading.

Microcenter delivers... I was leaving MC after getting some sim racing gear when MC texted me with 5090 stock. Apparently its their last batch that's been retrieved from the ports. The batch sitting in the ports are waiting payment from tariffs or such according to singing birds at MC. Anyways I test my friend whose been dreaming of a 5090 and he said pretty please go get it for him, so I obliged. As it turns out I made a TR render machine for him some years back and he wants to swap this in. Got an Optimus block for the cpu and waiting on an Acool block for the PNY 5090.

Afaik - its working but its still taking a damn long time to clone. I started cloning about 3-4hrs ago and the light is still indicating 50% completed. Its a very small and compact unit so I dont mind leaving it over night for it to do its work.

Strictly on-road with this one. I did have a mtb once and was fairly active but that was 20 odd years ago.
Nice bike... but I wouldn't mind having that BBQ in the background. I don't have a garden, but still. :D
Thanks. You're in luck, my mum&dad are on holiday  :D

Maybe one (or both) of your SSDs is thermal throttling?
