Re: Startech PEX8M2E2 pcie x8 adapter with bifurcation

Look out for
- Ableconn PEXM2-130
or
- Lycom DT-130

Same card - 20 sometimes up to 30% cheaper.

It's good to see you back on these forums Mr. Ismail and once again thank you for helping me out back in 2022 (page 7 of this thread) with the very successful NVME boot SSD upgrade to my aging PC (still my main PC).

One question that has been on my mind all this time and hopefully you will kindly answer is, besides the 500GB WD SN850 ssd I upgraded to, what other name brands/models if any are already baked into the bios file you configured for the original ASUS P6T?

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you in advance for your valuable time.

I remember some of them right now. I don't remember the others.
But I'm sure you'll find them if you do some research.

I would like to give you and X58 Motherboard users another piece of good news.
Appreciate the motherboard you have.
Because these magnificent motherboards, although they do not fully respond to today's technological updates, are in the top series class of motherboards without a "BACK DOOR".
I tried to explain this a little bit in my latest video on Youtube.
Just appreciate it, That's it.

this is for the 2022/ASUS P6T NVMe SSD BIOS MOD
would be great to have this full list for all the modded bios files (if different to this list)

but you can check your modded bios file to see what vendor and device id are contained within it and then using devicehunt.com find out what the NVMe drive and vendor are.
To see what in your bios or to be able to add a new vendor and device id i have written up a step by step guide

hello first of all thank you guys very much for all the helpful information and could you so kindle do a bios for my machine please.

Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU X5675 @ 3.07GHz 3.07 GHz
Crucial P2 500GB M.2 Internal SSD
CT500P2SSD8
PCI\VEN_C0A9&DEV_540A&CC_0108
ASUS P6X58D Premium

thank you again.

I’ve set up a new test environment based on a GA-X58A-UD3R board (Rev. 2.0, BIOS already updated — see my previous posts). To improve thermal conditions, I installed a CPU cooler that also provides airflow over the Northbridge/Southbridge and RAM banks — a critical factor for X58-based systems, especially under sustained load.
The board is equipped with 6 × 8 GB Crucial Ballistix modules (BLT8G3D1869DT1TX0.16FED, DDR3-1866), which pushes the platform close to its specification limits. Memory training and timing adjustments are still being fine-tuned manually. So far, the system has proven fully stable under load (gaming, file transfers >100 GB, stress testing).
A RTX 3060 Ti Mini (Asus, dual-fan design) will be installed next. The test run with the 3060 Ti is still pending.

Following that, I plan to restore and test an older Asus P8Z77 Premium board (paired with an i7-3770K). I’ll provide further updates once initial benchmarks and stability results are available — though this may take some time due to the workload involved.

@MrPanda and @catup
Thank you both for your efforts and for responding to the requests for help and support from Users in this content.
This is a voluntary work.
Unfortunately, everything has become money in the world.
We have started to heal the wounds of that great earthquake disaster in my country.
For now, I am very well and healthy on my own behalf.
My dear brother @Silwer,
I understand that this is your first message in this forum and the reason you found here is NVMe M.2 SSD Bios support for X58 motherboard.
I am happy to inform you that you can now add NVMe M.2 Support to your old motherboards more easily.
You can do this very easily yourself.
I opened a new topic in the Link below.

HOW TO ADD NVMe M.2 SSD SUPPORT TO OLD MOTHERBOARDS WITH AMI BIOS LEGACY SUPPORT?

Hi @İsmailTPC_Hastanesi

And hi @MrPanda and @catup

Thank you all very much for your replies. I've been offshore for work and just got started to click on the links provided:

..the device id from my NMVE:

VEN: 2646
DEV: 5028

--

So here's what I did:

I downloaded files via @catup post on Jul 18, 2024

mmtool322.exe
OpRomCfg.exe
NvmeOpRom.BIN

But the SABRTOTH.ROM file came from 2022_ASUS_SABERTOOTH-X58-1403-NVME_M.2_SSD_BIOS_MOD.rar.

I followed the instructions to make a TEST folder and put all files above in to it.
In CMD promt:

C:\Users\pc\Desktop>OpRomCfg NvmeOpRom.bin 2646 5028
'OpRomCfg' is not recognized as an internal or external command,
operable program or batch file.

I releized that I needed to instal OpRomCfg.exe first. But I found out that I could not use/open the "OpRomCfg.exe" (a black window apear/dissapered) ?? I've also tried disable blocking of unwanted app in the system.

hello

i modded an Asus P8Z68-V PRO here so it can run a nvme, things went smoothly and are working fine.
also a MSI Z87-G45 gaming. in fact all computers in house run nvme as system drive now.

the X58-UD7 is provided with a waterblock for the northdridge. still thinking about it, problem being to find space to put the liquid tank, and the money to buy custom accessories that probably wont fit 15 years old waterblock.

as long as the IOH doesnt run over 60-65° all is fine here. problem being the summer and heatwaves. things get tricky then, when the room temp goes over 35°c, shutting down the computer and putting desktop fans on the NAS is the only way to go.

i wish i could get a 48GB ram kit. sometimes 24GB is just enough here (and i dont run 3x VMs for W.O.W.) i guess i'll have to learn how to close my browsers tabs (more than a hundred most of the time.)

So I just wanted to update the progress.

I have made it work. So thank you all for posting to right directions!

hey there, does anyone know if the WD Black SN750SE will work with the P6T SE bios that's on here?

I've got a 1366 bundle with that board coming up, so right now I can't look at the hardware id because I have no pc to check it

If your hardware WD Black SN750SE is already installed in one system please tell us Ven Id number and Dev id number show it on your device manager at storage controller section (Hardware ID's -drop down menu )

If you read this thread there is a guide how to add your hardware to the bios but like always be careful with this kind of things .

Update
I get from internet those numbers :The WD Black SN750 SE NVMe SSD has a Vendor ID (VEN ID) of 15B7 and a Device ID (DEV ID) of 5006 but unfortunately this hardware is not included in modified Bios for P6T SE published in this thread .

here it is

You installed your device in a system ?
Ok your device is not included in modified bios of P6T SE published in this thread. You have to ask OP or to add by yourself following the guide for asus board .
Sorry for the wrong numbers it seem that the information was not complete !

i see, OP isn't doing requests anymore right? if not then i'm not risking it right now, i don't have a eeprom flasher or whatever it's called

According with P6T SE motherboard manual at chapter 3.9.2 you have an utility included in bios Asus EZ flash 2 .It means you can flash bios with your motherboard if you don't have eeprom flasher .
Regarding the OP you are wright he is missing long time from discussion but from a month it is active again and you have to to quote him .
Now there is a new thread open by the same OP please see post # 903 . Maybe if you post there you can get help from OP .

yeah I'm aware, I updated my bios yesterday to the most recent one through that, I mean in case the bios mod fails and it bricks the mobo, I wouldn't be able to fix the thing
I saw the other thread, but I didn't really understand anything in there

Yes you are wright I read little the new thread and see that he don't accept request for add new hardware to bios .
And you are wright too if you need to be 100% covered in the case of bricks you need eeprom flasher .
For me it was not a case I modified by myself and did not get a disaster .
Go buy an eeprom flasher they are very cheap like 5USD
Your motherboard P6T SE last bios ver. is 0908 ?

Hi Ismail!

No idea if this thread is still active, but I'ld like to request for:
- Asus P6T
- PCI-E adapter: PCI\VEN_144D&DEV_A80C&SUBSYS_A801144D&REV_00
- m.2: SCSI\DiskSAMSUNG_MZHPV256HDGL-000BXW2

For both I've copied the top line from the HardwareID tab in Device manager. Looking forward to any answer!
