AMD Radeon RX 9070 GRE Gets Reviewed - Gaming Perf. Comparable to RX 7900 GRE

going to repeat that if any OEM manages to put 16GB VRAM on RX 9070 GRE then he obliterates competition ...
because those 12GB are what makes this card way less valuable than previous gen GRE
Amusingly, 16GB isn't really possible but, an AIB absolutely could build a double-sided GRE w/ 24GB of lower-binned GDDR6.

As-announced,
I'd say the RX 9070 GRE 12GB is to the RX 7900 GRE 16GB
as
the B570 10GB is to the A770 16GB

Very similar or superior performance on the newer offering, but less (better utilized) VRAM.

Typo, previous gen card was the 7900 GRE
Yes, I’m still not coming back to the PC—it’s too expensive.

The PC market has become a nightmare of overpriced components and perpetual inventory shortages, making upgrades feel like a luxury rather than a practical choice. Meanwhile, the GPU market is even worse—riddled with scalpers, inflated prices from the crypto-mining frenzy, and next-gen cards that still feel out of reach for most gamers.

My previous bike was a road bike, but I’ve decided to buy another one. This time, I’m upgrading to a mountain bike (MTB).

Shouldn't it be 9070 GSE?

After all, 2025 is year of the snake...

GSE?
I’m sorry I had too

AMD just can't help shooting themselves in the foot, is second nature now.

9070 should be priced max 500$ even 450$ if they wanted to make and impact or should have called this card the 9060XT @ 400$
The 9070 is 8-13% slower than the 9070xt, while being 9% cheaper MSRP-wise, but in reality the difference is 100-150$. On the other hand the 9070 is the most efficient card on the market along with the 5080(which isn't a good buy when the 5070Ti exists) and consumes 90-120W less than the 9070xt.

As always, it all comes down to the price. At around $500 in real-world pricing (MSRPs are not real), I think this is a good offering for a lot of gamers who want some premium performance without breaking the bank too much for the 9070 (both XT and non-XT) or RTX 5070 & up. And for these people and what they would be using the card for, 12GB vram is more than enough.
