Synology announced the launch of BeeStation Plus today at COMPUTEX 2025, the latest addition to its plug-and-play BeeStation lineup. With 8 TB of storage and up to 4.8x the performance, BeeStation Plus gives families, creative teams, and professionals the freedom to access, organize, and enjoy their digital world, without missing a beat. "The BeeStation lineup was designed to let everyday users benefit from a cloud-like environment without needing advanced storage or networking knowledge," said Mayi, product manager at Synology. "Since launching the first BeeStation, we've seen strong interest from users looking for larger storage capacity and more robust capabilities, like running more applications and support for families and teams working and sharing together. BeeStation Plus is our answer to those needs."

BeeStation Plus automatically backs up memories from phones, computers, cloud photo libraries, and external storage devices all in one place. With built-in local AI, it helps users instantly find photos of people or subjects, without sending any data to the cloud. Personal files, schoolwork, and projects are just as easy to keep organized. Whether from cloud drives, external drives, or computers, BeeStation Plus brings everything together for easier browsing, smarter searches, and faster sharing.

BeeStation Plus comes with built-in Plex Media Server support, making it easy to turn users' media collection into a personal streaming library. Store favorite movies, TV shows, and home videos in one place, and enjoy seamless access across TV's, phones, or tablets at home or on the go.

BeeStation Plus combines snapshot-based restore points with a free three-month BeeProtect cloud backup subscription, making 3-2-1 backup achievable in minutes. Designed to make offsite backup affordable, BeeProtect helps users recover their data even in cases of theft or disaster, with end-to-end encryption ensuring only the owner can decrypt and access their files.

If I want shitty locked down NAS I would get WD NAS while avoiding Synology like a plague.

Edit: Checked the specs and both come with 1Gbps NICs and are locked down drives. Seagate and WD both offered similar single drive NAS back in the the day and they were at best turds.

1st it says "without sending any data to the cloud".....then it says "a free three-month BeeProtect cloud backup subscription"

Seems kinda contradictory to me, but OTOH, I am a FIRM believer in keeping all my personal data on my own arrays, and having several local back-ups of said data, and NOT sending anything to "da cloud" for any reason.....

3 year hardware warranty, single drive with only backup as Synology's cloud service. 3-year cost is $770 and then when the drive dies out of warranty it's e-waste.

At least they could have given it a hardware warranty as long as you pay for the cloud service.

Yep, Synology deserve all the ill-will they've earned through shitty decisions.

Avoid like the plague, they've turning into the Broadcom of turnkey NAS providers and are just out to milk people who recognise the brand name at this point.

There are plenty of other NAS providers that don't take the piss, offering superior hardware, more flexible software, and at a lower cost.
