Voltage is okay but temperature seems high. If the laptop is old then change thermal paste or get a nice laptop cooling pad.

The heatsink and thermal paste were changed very recently.I guess this is the fate of this computer. high heat and fps loss

Unfortunately, this is not possible through the SERP due to the BIOS Guard feature. I'm thinking about unlocking the same way as you with a ch341 but I need a modified bios to insert. Did you modify yours yourself? Sorry for so many questions but I'm very interested in limiting tension without limiting frequency.

Hi, I used the SERP driver for the advanced bios and now when I want to update the bios I have the Halska bios guard. Is there a way out of this?

Hello, thank you for an in depth explanation and great easy to use software to update the micro code, I updated the microcode and everything worked out, I had to disable the Virtualization to proceed, but the fact of the matter is that I am still getting voltages over 1.4V, what I had seen is that the maximum my processor reaches is 1.45V, the main problem is that I cannot undervolt the cpu because my laptop has an oldschool looking ami bios that is very constricted and I cannot do anything on it, just some very basic settings that are not important for this matter. What should I do to lower the voltage cap? Is there any other method? My laptop is Gigabyte Aorus 15X ASF, it has an i9-13900HX cpu with an RTX4070 gpu. I flashed my bios yesterday to the latest one that is on the gigabyte site for this laptop(the bios was from june 2024) but it is still a trash bios, I have had similar bios on my old dekstop pc's over 15 years ago. I have attached pictures that showcase hwinfo sensors and the updated microcode. One pic is after 2 hours of usage and on performance mode and the other after testing cyberpunk for 15mins.

Hello, there you go SREP.

Just format the usb stick, put all the files inside, enter the bios, disable secure boot, boot with the usb stick, the screen will go black with several writings in the top left corner, wait for it to finish and then click on continue and then it will return to the bios and open several hidden tabs. Be careful with changes, if you change something that prevents the laptop from turning on, you will have to open and disconnect the battery, reconnect it and turn it on with the charger plugged in, this will reset the bios.

In my experience, I was able to slightly overclock the RAM, change the AC/DC values (only do this if you know what you are doing) and set the voltage limit. With these changes I managed to increase the performance substantially at the same time as the voltage does not exceed 1.3V for the 5.6Ghz of the I9 13980HX (TVB off).

This spreadsheet exemplifies the gains I made with these changes (Cinebench R23 HT Off). My best scores in Cinebench was 30285 (148W) HT off and 34775 (160W) with HT on.

i bought a new laptop and want to access the hidden bios to cap the voltage but somehow it doesnt work. as far as i understand that should work for my asus g18. but i followed your instruction and after boot/pressing continue it goes to the bitlocker and after that it boots normally. i disabled secure boot and and let the thingy boot from usb stick but it somehow never works. any tips what could went wrong?

Weird, I did not know 12E was a thing. I knew there was 0x12b and 0x12F but never heard of 12E. But it is after 12B so I imagine you're probably okay, but yeah, never heard of it.

Speaking of though, I wonder if its necessary to use this trick for the new 0x12F ucode? Or if 0x12B is now considered safe enough and people aren't really paying attention anymore.

May Microcode Update aka [0x12F]

New microcode update got released! This is the May microcode update which now they call it 0x12F. Released officially by Intel. Forgive me for my late responses, I have been away from home for almost 5 weeks for work related stuff

Confirmed that it covers & supports Intel HX CPU's 13th/14th Gen with CPUID B0671h without any issues. You can find it on the attachment on the main post with [0x12F] tag name on it.

It's been giving me issues. I reverted back to the previous bios but it's still thermal throttling my 14900k with my global adaptive undervolt settings.

If I use the uninstall.bat, will it completely delete the 0x12f microcode and whatever else was overwritten so I could reinstall the previous 2801 bios version?

I don't think so. Bios updates as I understand it, insert the microcode when the computer boots, this software trick inserts it when windows launches.

You could just turn the intel profile off, then do your best to emulate the other parts of it in the bios. As I'm guessing its overwritting the undervolt settings you have. Just a guess though.

Hey! I'm catching up & doing fine, thanks for asking, how about you? Unfortunately , no longer have any access to any skylake CPUs let alone 6700HQ/6820HK/HQ.

The inf file doesn't need to be signed really. It might be that uCode F2 is made for different revision of skylake CPU, even if it got the same name of CPUID.. usually the core stepping or revision have different name or batches.

For example just like i7 13700HX... they got B0 and C0.

I encountered some performance issues with the 12F microcode. Stuttering occurred in many games. And in Final Fantasy 15, it took 3 minutes just to launch the game to the main menu, and another 3 minutes to actually enter the game. However, this issue did not occur when using the 12B microcode.
