I've started doing some upgrades to my server.

I got a "new" CPU (Xeon E3-1265L V2), a new CPU cooler (Thermalright Assassin X90 SE V2), and a new case (Silverstone CS382).

At some point, I want to get some Noctua fans for it and a GPU for video transcoding in Jellyfin.

I agree and remain happy with my 2560 x 14400 display.

Coolermaster HAF 700 just showed up on my front porch. It's heavy.

I second that! (if we can knock off a 0 at the end lol)

1440p is what keeps both my rigs relevant today - no need to upgrade GPUs (want: yes). Funny enough I was literally inches away going 4K back then but high refresh rate IPS and true GSYNC panels were only available at 1440p. The compromise paid off way better than expected.

Thats a monster of a case. Thank God those top fans are (hopefully) exhausting air, otherwise if set to intake it carries the risk of just about enough downwards thrust to qualify for a launch vehicle.

A 4K display is nice, it's just ain't easy to drive when it comes to games if you want really good quality but for movies, work and such so much space.
gaming is not his main priority, even though doom ran at 4k low with dlss just fine and tbh games these days look decent even on low settings

Yessir, it's by far the biggest case I've built in. It's going to take two people to carry it the 6-7 feet from my workbench to my desk once I'm finished installing the wcing etc in it. As much as I like my desk I may have to UPgrade. I don't think this thing will fit on or under it.

Well, I placed the order at 3am. That kinda says it all.

wow i just checked - 19.6KG non-EVO or 24.5KG EVO... thats nuts!! I thought my bequiet silent 601 was heavy @ around 10kg. Definitely a 2-man job!

lol i did the same with the 601. Although its from one of my older builds... took it from the office to make it my home gaming rig and totally forgot to check desk clearance. I literally put everything together and when it came to land the craft, boom - didn't fit. Ended up buying a desk with some added depth. Hope you don't run into the same issue - mine was a hassle, the previous one had modded display holders, under desk slide draws and trays, drilled holes for more convenient cable management, mounted extension lead and cable management stuff, etc - i was glad to be done away with the RGB strips though.

it arrived quicker than expected. But something feels off. Doesn't feel like real life. For comparison i have a Suzuki Swift IRL, which is a pretty good chassis, look what HKS did to it lol.

1. The wheel doesnt load up with speed
2. The wheel doesnt load up the more i turn it one way.
3. Feedback feels a bit vague around the centre.
4. The centering mechanism feels weird and juttery.

I tried it in Dirt Rally 2 and Forza Horizon 4.

in the former i tweaked a few things and could finally finish a stage lol. But in the latter.... i cant. i tried starting the drifting story again, cant keep it in a straight line.

Also my left foot hurts from left foot braking.

First off, I believe there is a very helpful thread buried on TPU that could be worth investigating. Spoiler, well made sim gear that has reasonable feedback is "But Expensive." Even then you need to adapt to arcade environment with a farcical relationship to reality.

Second, good at driving games ≠ driving irl. Game comps to earn a race seat are promotional stunts with almost zero success. ;)

It's tech right? Juicer as a gift for my sister.

They can with the appropriate equipment and appropriate games, but a G29 in a more arcade oriented game isn't going to cut it.

You might want to check out Brian Koponen's tips and tweaks for the G29. He helped me a lot with a G920 setup (which is essentially the same wheel) for various sims .

P.S. It will never be, not even close, experience to the IRL driving. I drive bunch of different cars throughout the week, and each one I can comfortably drive on the limit, because I feel the vehicles with my whole body. No racing sim setup will ever simulate such experience, period.

I bought what supposed to be Topping NX1s headphone amp but it comes as generic China headphone amp, but its dirt cheap so before I click for 'refund' I tested it, why not since I already got it.

It doesn't sound too bad to be honest, at max volume its dead quiet, no hissing no popping, nothing weird. I quickly disassemble it to see what's inside.

The windows really shows the innards, no trickery circuit. It doesn't look bad at all, apart from some shoddy soldering on gain and switch at the back. Its two discrete amp for each channel, for me discrete amp if build properly can sounds good, doesn't need an opamp which most of the time just color the sound. This one sounds natural to me. I decide to keep it but I leave a note to review it wasn't the item described for anyone really looking for Topping NX1s. It drives my Yuin PK1 and Senn HD595 well, that's what matter to me.

While that is a fairly solid built, what stands out to me is the lack of filter caps. Just throwing it out there.

Is the PCB single-sided, though? Maybe there's caps on the other side?

I don't see any through-holes, so if there are, they're surface mount and likely providing only minimal filtering functionality.

Let me be clear, I'm not saying that it's a bad device. Only that I'm not seeing a critical part of any good quality headphone adapter. It otherwise looks like a decent bit of kit.

Filter caps isn't needed because IMO its only necessary if your devices got excessive DC offset. The Topping NX1s I mentioned got filter caps but the value is too low, means it rolls off bass too early, most people just bypass the caps anyway.
