Damn, they used eSATA on their 2022/2023 models...
Modern USB is way faster but from a reliability perspective I'll take (e)SATA any day over permanently attached external USB storage (occasionally using it for a backup is probably just fine). Once you're sick of completely different problems with different USB devices, random bugs, disconnections, file system issues, etc. you start appreciating good old fashioned SATA.

I'll do along with that. It's one of the many reasons I wish the powers that be has done SATA4(18Gbps).
 
Read it as a dickstation, and it was spot on.
