Star Citizen's Foundation Festival Returns with Free Fly Event, New Referral Program, and More

And over-monetization, usually of smaller things, as most people just say "let the whales have their toys, and fund the game" (all ships are or will be purchasable in game)

All ships you say? Nope. You can't get some anymore.

I don't want to play a game to eventually ask, "Hey, nice <insert digital pixels>, where can I get it?" just to hear "Oh heheh, special promo, or massive $$$ thrown, can't get it anymore" I don't want to think "money" or "damn, missed it because I had to make money" when I try to unplug from this crappy reality. Takes my peace meter from chill, into the red real fast.

I dropped WoW/Diablo/Starcraft because of this, as much as I love Freelancer and the former franchises, if I just get a wiff, you will never see me buy them again, I don't care how good it is/was.

@TheLostSwede

If you want me to use your referral code, tell me, I suppose I can do that much, so you can get a nice "ship" from what I understand. Won't take long.

I wisely never invested in this space saga, it was close when they were doing the kickstarter, but I controlled my urges...

On the other hand, I wasted way too much money on Hearthstone some years ago, won't be making that mistake again.

Oof, yeah, way too many sinkholes, they are very predatory, because most gamers like to 100% a game, but they don't factor in those like me, oopsie, check the reviews and when that happens = no buy. never again, done with these predatory practices.

Clair Obscur: Expidition 33 was such a breath of fresh air, it has it all, for one price. <3
Time will tell if it remains so though, but really looking forward to the next Sandfall titles.

Urgh, anyways, ranting again, just wanted to offer in case you wanted me to use your referral. Since it's free for now, might launch it to see how it runs, it's been some time since I made my account, 2016 lol.

In all fairness, Hearthstone was ok when it was released, but then it became pay to win and then they change the entire game and ruined it, so that was that.

Been putting money mostly into smaller game companies this past year, not that I have spent all that much on games, but picked up a few of the ones I post about here in the weekly roundups.

I think at this point I wouldn't be surprised if they're doing these shamelessly embarrassing cash-in events just to generate enough living cash for the "founders" of this scheme. I think the devs at the studio probably consist of a single teenage intern who's sole job is to change the text on the website from "coming 2026" to "coming 2027" every year.

Sorry guys, I promise I won't post any more Star Citizen stuff until the game is at least released in Beta.
It's just interesting to see everyone's comments on this topic.

That's an overreation. This thread has value and I don't think anybody is suckered into buying SC items.

Just get Spacebourne 2 and forget about Star Citizen.

I have kept away from spacebourne 2 because of it's seemingly never-ending early access, is it a pretty good game in its current state?

Yes the developer does a great job updating the Game. When I first started things like Lasers were not that good but the Developer also listens to the Community as well. As far as Early Access.I actually finished Everspace 2 before it was released a year later.

I love those events. Download time and downloads are for free? right?

Urgh, yeah, just tried it again after all these years, what a disappointment. The performance of the engine alone is off-putting, I forced it to 157 Refresh with Lossless Scaling to get it to be smooth, but then the input lag is so horrible, I crashed at a hangar as I tried to land.

The only thing I can say is amazing, is that there is no pop-in as you move closer to planets/terrain.

Some peole rather take the risk for a dream than throwing money on the 22nd meaningless iteration of CoD...
The problem with Chris Roberts is that he has proven himself over and over again as an unreliable director. He literally got booted by EA of all companies after they aquired Origin. The same happened when Digital Anvil got aquired by Microsoft.
The man is more insane than Peter Molyneux.
He is literally known for throwing money over the counter and seeing nothing back. So it isn't really taking a risk it's just throwing money away in the hopes ever seeing something that maybe half resembles of what he said.

Until Orange Madman returned to Kremlin's franchise at the White House, Star Citizen was the biggest scam in human history. Now it's 2nd biggest Ponzi scheme.

Why Techpower up is even reporting on this pay to win pending class action lawsuit. The only place this "game" needs to be discussed is a court room.
