PlayStation 5 Pro to Gain Full AMD FSR 4 Integration in 2026

Well, they dropped FSR4 almost out of nowhere and it's a thing TODAY.
Not on many games (yes I know you can mod games with optiscaler, but that's far from perfect and requires effort beyond an in game settings toggle), it's comparable to DLSS3 and it's arrived considerably later, running on dedicated hardware considerably later. 9070XT get's more performance ... later. None of that is inherently bad mind you (9070XT gaining through drivers gis great for people whop bought one), but I stand by my statement which was made in jest, but many a true word is spoken in jest.

All the fsr and dlss and fake frames shenanigans was created from the thing Sony itself started long ago, it should have stayed there. It's the right place for it.

Everything about video games is fake. These are all just different ways of painting a picture through math. As games have demanded more and better graphics over the expense of everything else, especially PC gamers, different ways of painting that picture have come about. There's nothing inherently wrong about the new methods and they have enabled a lot.

If you want to roll back the clock get the hell off the main culprit, the PC. Go play older games. It won't matter anyways though. The hardware to do those things are other stuff is here to stay because GPUs have not been about gaming since the 8800gtx flew onto the scene with CUDA. If you have bought an 8800gtx or any card after that or any AAA game or even once said you care about graphics you have not only voted for this stuff you have also demanded gaming move to the cloud. Oh well. You got what you asked for.

fake frames created a more confusing ecosystem for gamers, for developers. Games demand a lot more from your system and often look a lot worse then games from a couple of years ago
I really don't see a net positive in a any of this trend.

Between uneducated gamers that believe those fake frames to be extra performance and game studios that use that crutch so much, we're basically right back to where unoptimised game performance was BEFORE those crutches (c.f. Hell Is Us 4K@30 with upscaling permanently enabled requiring a 4090), we're at a point where it's rare to find optimized games (props to ARC raiders for the performance of their visuals on GTX10 GPUs, looking as good as it does for the FPS that it gets without crutches should be expected of all games and their studios) and we have to rely on indies and splinter studios to show Big Games how to make a game fun and playable on present and less present hardware

Sony's PSSR was a colossal and monumental f**k up by Sony, all because they wouldn't licence FSR 4 from AMD or something? Very weird situation.

More unoptimized games spiced with worse image quality. :toast:

How many Games supported DLSS in the first 6 months of it launching?

It is a thing today, but the ngreedia fans will bash on it regardless. I'm sure the same people taking a dig are buying AAA games at launch but still complaining about the bugs.
Nvidia- today's features, until the next card launch because the more you buy the more you save.

when DLSS launched it was innovative and new, they set the pace and led the market, and others followed. Comparing to that point in time is pointless. How many games today have native FSR4 and how many have native DLSS 3+?

Woops your double standard is showing again.

When DLSS launched it was compared to smearing vaseline all over the screen by any reviewer without a bias towards team green.
And I wonder how many of those game studios are Nvidia paid to add DLSS4 but not add anything newer than FSR 2 or 3.

I normally ignore such accusations, but I'll take the bait this time. My double standard? LOL, sure. You have no problem always bashing in AMD threads, even saying something in "jest" to excuse your obvious bias but always take personal offense by classic memes like ngreedia or leather jacket man.

The rumor was that Sony was tired of waiting AMD to get good output with FSR, so they decided to do it on their own as PSSR. Then they share it with AMD what then become FSR4. What Sony was missing was the compute power to train a model, this is where AMD takes part. This way Sony gets the compute power they need and AMD gets feedback from Sony devs. This is how I understood the partnership.

I don't always bash AMD lol, you're judgement is tainted by your bias. If I bash them so much, why would I actively use their products, both now and over the last 25 years? Even what I said here wasn't rude at all, and accurately reflects that they're behind on features and outright performance.

And those aren't classic memes, their childish name calling which weakens the point you're making not strengthening it :slap: Your obsession with Nvidia and the CEO is pretty strange tbh, you sure mention him more than anyone who actually uses Nvidia hardware on this forum.

That would be pretty cool if true. My question is why would the PC version of FSR4 come out so much earlier than the PS5 Pro version if this was the case.
