Sources close to AMD have informed that Advanced Micro Devices has picked up Mike Houston. Houston is known for his work at Stanford University, most notably with the Folding@Home GPGPU client. At this time, it is unclear to us what Houston's title or specific role will be at AMD/ATI.

Hmmmm, hopefully they're gonna put some focus on GPGPU apps.

well it says on his home page that he just got a position at amd working at architectural design, if you click on his name it will take you there, the last line in his intro

I can only imagine the gimmikyness when the time comes to sack this guy....

*phone rings*

Mike Houston: "Hello?"

AMD HR.Dpt "Houston, we have a problem..."

Hm, I wonder what this will bring to the F@H community?

How much are they paying him, they dont want to break the financial donkeys back now do they :p

Who is Mike Houston and why is he so important???????:confused:

he did the "Folding at home" program
and he knows thing or two about computers, AMD needs him for GPCPU or what ever it's called

good move by amd, this seems to be the guy that made the gpu client, and they could really use this guy for the firestreamers platform that amd's working on.

My God that was funny. I think he might do more for them than just the GPU segment. He could help AMD throttle up and actually put up a nice fight and theft of crown from Intel and their CDQ chips.

well paying a smart engineer is not braking bank, I believe its investment, and considering AMD could really use some smart people right now since they are blowing smoke on all fronts, performance wise.
