The folks at the Inquirer managed to get a "spy shot" of the new Dell 30" LCD monitor that was reported about here.

I must say, it's huge and I want it.

Oooh, ooh, oh. Oops... *Sigh* Yup. Yeah, yeah I just creamed myself.

Wrong resolution.... If you look at the start bar and icons (way too big) on the screen you can tell that it's not running at 2560 x 1600 like it was rumored to be (and the Apple Cinema Displays are). It looks like 1920 x 1200 res. That would be sad... I was planning on getting one of these. But if it turns out to be a 1920 x 1200 30" instead of the ACD rival of 2560 x 1600 then I won't.

Yeah I noticed that too, but maybe they just didn't have a card that could run that res?

That would be really sad... And why would you show off a monitor like that and NOT run it at it's native resolution!

yea...that is an XPS next to the LCD... -> SLI? -> capability to crank the res up far enough -> but this is not the case -> really only 1900x1200?

sad..

cheers

Actually, nVidia 7800 GTX's are not capable of 2560x1600 res. ATi x1800's are...

EDIT: nVidia's next cards base off the G71 probably will be.

I'd be plenty happy with just a 2005fpw. This one is way to big and way to expensive. And really the 2005fpw is too expensive also. Actually, any really nice LCD is too expensive for me lol. That's why I've been sticking with my CRT.

2005fpw, that's what I've had my eyes on for a while now. Very nice LCD.

weird, not even in SLI?
I heard something about them being able to handle that in SLI...

[sarcasm]$2200, is that all?[/sarcasm] That's only a little less than what my entire system cost.

Yeah, but it's cheaper than the competition. The ACD is $2500

Ooooooh 2005fpw's are only $480 or so right now. That's still a boat load of money and I really shouldn't even be thinking of buying one but it's oooooh so tempting. Especially with all the LANs I go to. Grrrrrr I hate not having money. :banghead:

2.2k isnt that bad .. it will drop in price quickly over the next 6 months .. then wait for one of the 20% off deals at dell
looks for "review request + keep" button :)

Hey W1zzard I'll buy your 2001fp off of you if you get that 30".:)

Who wants to buy my Sony p234 when I get the Dell?

$800

Used for eight months.
No dead pixels.
Perfect.

Ouch. I'll pass lol. I could scrounge up maybe just enough to get that 2005fpw if I sold my current monitor and my CS:S server. But I don't quite want to part with my server. Eventhough nobody plays on it. It's really good to have a backup PC.

I neved tought that Dell had good lcd monitors until I bought my fpw2005. Is big but I like that 30 inch. If this one is good, that one is awesome.:rockout:

imo 24'' is far enough ...

You are actually "considering" to buy such a screen? Damn man, that's about a zillion times more than what my whole PC cost. Sigh. One day...

I have one of these amazing monitors. They do reach 2560x1600 resolution. In the pic it looks like 1024x768 to me. Right now these monitors are down to $1300!! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND
