Has anybody used this instead af AS5 or any other TIM's that you normally use? And how did it compare. I read one review here http://www.tweaknews.net/reviews/zalmanthermalgrease/ that compared it to the AS5 and shows to be about even even. The reason I ask is because I got a new Zalman CNPS9700 NT cooler that came with it.

You can always try it. If its not good just clean it off and go back to AS5.

honestly everyone just uses AS5 or MX2, it would be pretty rare to see someone using somthing else :(

I've read reviews from forum members who've used it. Its comparable to AS5 / MX-1 as far as temps go. As far as applying it goes they all said its the easiest they've ever used. Its funny you posted this because I was going to ask this same question a few hours ago...I might order some from my rewards program at work. I use AS5 and AS Ceramique but they are both somewhat of a pain to apply. The Zalman stuff you literally paint on and its easier to remove if you switch coolers a lot. But again, I must stress that it produces almost equal temps as AS5 and MX-1.

see, thats what I read also. I also noticed that they cover the whole processor and the cooler with it, im sure its a very thin layer but I still wonder if that is a bit to much.

It's too much. I've used it, along with Arctic ceramique and Mx-2, and it was always the worst performing for me, by several degrees. I also found it got worse over time. It may be easier to apply, but always thought it was too much (even tried just putting it on just the CPU only), but for performance, go with Mx-2 or the tried and true AS5.

You can probably keep the Arctic freezer stuff on there. Just change it to AS5 the next time you need to take your HSF off, you'll probably get 3-4 degrees better temps (after the set in period - I think its like 200 hrs).

i also have a bottle of the zalman grease sitting unused from my cnps9700. i'll probably use it on my vid card or soemthing eventually...

I read the Zalman stuff is literally the same as AS5 they both beat each other by 1 or 2 'c in some areas then win it back in the next - to there is no winner out of AS5 & Zalman but the only bonus is with zalman is that it comes with a brush so you can put just the right amount of grease on it like a girl using nail varnish.
