I guess the R.O.G. series is no more about expensive and high-end motherboards only, since ASUS has surprisingly showed the ROG: G-SURF 365, a motherboard that is powered by NVIDIA's mediacore nForce 630 chipset. The board looks like a toy compared to every one of its bigger brothers. It will support all Socket AM2 processors, one PCI-Express x16 external graphics, and only two DDR2 slots for up to 4GB. The ASUS ROG: G-SURF 365 is said to be available now in some stores for just under € 75.

Thats a sexy board.:D

That's one huge heatsink dam!

Thats a sexy board.

Eww, yeah sure, if you like chicks made out of legos.

Seriously though, even at € 75 this is a rip-off. Only ASUS could get away with crap like this.

The board has latches?? For what?

Perhaps the board without latches will bend due the cooler and NB/SB cooler weight xD

Not bad for a bottom end board :)

:roll: LMAO i just choked on coke reading that :toast:, but on topic its cheap and would probably do me just fine. 8800gt/hd3870, 2x2gb ram and a 6000+ cpu id be happy :). but yes it looks a little strange but only strange by what were used to looking at.
Cheers
Gam

That is the WORST design for an ATX board I have ever seen.

If under that chipset cooler was an X38... I would open a trial against ASUS for doing one of the best performant boards with a crappy design. :toast::roll:

wtf is that red thing on the io???

how much does it cost? this would be a great board for building budget gaming machines for customers. it just needs more sata ports.

lol It looks so empty

Read it. It sais "for just under 75 euro"

one PCI-Express x16 external graphics

What the hell is that? External graphics? I like my components INSIDE my case though, not like sitting on my desk, or hanging from the side panel...

Just weird...

too much for a hunk of crud

It seems that Asus's intention for this mobo is to be used for internet cafes or at schools.

No school or internet caffee are interested in 100$ motherboard that has less features than 60$ motherboard.

Actually it has features that are ideal for schools and internet cafes... simple hardware (its just gonna be used for web browsing and word processing), and comes with locking devices for memory, KB/M, hard drive, and the unit itself.

edit: The only thing i dont get is why is it using normal screws. It should be using security screws.

What the hell is that red thing with a metal bar?

What the hell is that red thing with a metal bar?

It servers two purpose, one is to lock the KB/M cables, and secondly to lock the computer via a cable of some sort.

To put the debate over what the red bar is for, this is what it does, and very ingenious imo

basically it will lock your memory and your keyboard and mouse cables so they cant be stolen.

"G-Guardian is the best protector of your memory modules and PC peripherals! With G-Guardian assembled on your motherboard, you will never worry about your keyboard, mouse, webcam, headset and memory modules being stolen."

for more, read about half way down here

one of the most ingenious things iv seen on a mobo, perfect for making a LAN box out of, or, used at a net cafe. if only it had 4 RAM slots and a tastier MCP...oh and LGA775 support :P
