The third title in the Red Faction franchise will arrive during THQ's next fiscal year, the publisher confirmed in a financial conference call yesterday. The company's 2009 fiscal year runs from April 1, 2008 to March 31, 2009. According to THQ CEO Brian Farrel, Red Faction 3 is being developed for the PC, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 at the THQ-owned Volition Studios. Released in 2001, the original Red Faction was a sci-fi first-person shooter that focused on environmental destruction. The sequel, which debuted in 2002, continued the tradition of geometry deformation, allowing players to tunnel through floors and walls. It appears the third game in the series will carry that torch, with Farrel claiming it will feature "more exciting destruction technology," reports GameSpot. An official unveiling of Red Faction 3 and more details are expected in the coming weeks.

this is awesome i loved the first two, cant wait for the third

I still have RF2... somewhere...

It was very good for it's time. Halo kinda killed it though.

Interested and waiting...

i have rf2 sitting right next to me, in my opnion i liked it more then halo(someone is going to bash me for saying that)

sweet, I was just thinking about the game; I loved the first 2!
railgun ftw.

I'd hafta agree with ya on that one. RF1/2 is a a heck of a lot more popular in my house then Halo1/2/3 ever was. Can't wait to preorder RF3.

I have yet to play RF2 but I remember the first classic. Its been a good day for games news today so far :rockout:

"exciting destruction technology"
aka EDT. Heck, more EDT is always good.

I only played the original and I thought it was pretty good. My installation CDs got pretty scratched up and I had to dump em, and it's pretty rare to find a copy anywhere, eBay included.

this is awesome i still have the previous 2 i hope they dont ruin the story like they did imo in 2 tho i loved the first one that geo mod stuff was so uniqe

I'm still waiting for Freespace 3 from Volition

anyone know about a demo?!?! if there gunna release one?!?!

ohh its never to early ;)

Finally..

US Faction fans have been waiting what seems like forever for this title. I spent literally hours with friends tunneling in RF1, and RF2 had a great SP story.

omg ya do you remember that map in rf1 where there were two opposing like 4 story building things and there was just like a straight connector between the two with a few rocks or something to provide a little cover, that was my favorite map you could tunnel to the other side and surprise the opposing team, or make a really big hole right in front of your base so they would just fall in and be easy pickings? i know my description is bad but you might know what im talking about

It's just you and me now miner!

i am SO looking forward to this!!! fusion rocket launcher was great in the first one, the rail gun too... the second was was great, but less blowup-ables compared to the first, but still freaking awesome.

huh, will it work with unified shader arcitecture? I know at least in RF1 when I tried to play it with my 8500gt, there were so many artifacts...
