German video cards specialist mad-moxx has come up with a really unique present for the marriage of one of their employees. They took an ATI Radeon video card and completely covered it with pure gold leaf.

No, the card doesn't work anymore.

...Why? Lol. Is some guy going to wear it as his "Bling Bling" now too?

Nice present:) to bad it doesn't work:)

yeah, if it worked it would have been like the greatest present EVER... hehehe....

Damn that must have been expensive. I wonder if he can get the gold off without melting the pcb :wtf:

The present was certainly unique... Though it doesn't work, at least you can put it on display =D It'll make people look on with envy. But I agree with the dude about melting the gold off. I'd rather the gift be more productive if it can't give me more FPS in games. The next best thing. =P

Not a bad gift. I am just waiting for the GPU companies to get hold of this and start selling them (even though they dont work). I bet someone out there would buy one.

I would have prefered a Nvidia goldplated Graphics card.

The only thing missing is a real blue sapphire stone embeded to that "Sapphire" heatsink ;)

This ranks up there with adding flashy lights to the inside of your PC, in the stupid idea department.

Perfect Gamer Gift

That would have been the perfect gift for a gamer if it worked.

mmm beautiful.. hehe.. it would go well with my Geforce 256 on my wall.

Actually to do this would be very cheap. Thw gold leaf is extremely thin & weighs virtually nothing. The whole card was probably done with 50 sheets. Less than €15.

I could do it myself if i could be arsed. Not very impressive now is it!! :wtf:

thing is all you have to do is clearcoat the card (except vram gpu and any other component that gets hot) then gold leaf the parts painted. bam a shiney gold card that works,

do it. have you ever worked with leaf gold?

ha ha lol.

I knew some one was going to ask me this!! And as a matter of fact i have. Gold leaf is quite strange to use. It sticks to almost anything without the need for glue but isn’t sticky. You have to work in a completely draught free environment & take very shallow breathes or else it ripples & folds onto itself. You also have to use tweezers to move the sheet into position.

When I said I couldn’t be arsed, I really meant it!! It must have taken ages to cover the entire card. While the card & the gold leaf is fairly cheap; labour costs must have be enormous!! ;)

That's a AGP 9800 I believe, it's not going to give you more FPS in games... That's about the best thing you can do with a AGP 9800

ooohhh....... so close but no cigar!!! Its not a 9800 Pro :D

Anyone else care to guess which card it is? (I do know BTW) ;)

EDIT: nvm i think its a 9600 Ultimate
