NVIDIA, the world leader in visual computing technologies and the inventor of the GPU, today announced that it has completed the acquisition of AGEIA Technologies, Inc., the industry leader in gaming physics technology. AGEIA's PhysX software is widely adopted with more than 140 PhysX-based games shipping or in development on Sony Playstation 3, Microsoft XBOX 360, Nintendo Wii, and gaming PCs. AGEIA physics software is pervasive with over 10,000 registered and active users of the PhysX SDK.

the developers of games must going to stop this nvidia meant to be played bull s**t.
cause with this way ati cant never unleash there power.

cause when an "nvidia game" comes out and uses his aeiga system ati owners are screwed
cause it will run as crap and the physx will suck.

Things are looking grim for AMD and ATI

Care to explain? Your statement makes no sense, as Agiea isn't even a part of AMD/ATi, plus Nvidia bought Agiea to basically get rid of them. If anything, Nvidia is in trouble right now with the lack of any gpu under 65nm and no GDDR4 or 5 support as of right now.

Well considering the AMD/ATi earnings aren't anywhere near where they wanted them & NVIDIA has AGEIA under its belt (which contributes its Physx engine to a lot of popular titles) I think its safe to say that NVIDIA has another edge over ATi. Not to mention Intel's near domination of the CPU market. When the average consumer buys their "Gaming Machine" they have a few options to choose from. Do you think they know which one has GDDR4/5 and 45nm processors?

Frankly I think this is added revenue and another reason why NVIDIA will perform better in select titles than ATi. I think people take the business end of the GPU wars to heart entirely too much. Even if ATi makes a better product (which in most cases they do), its the marketing teams that decide that battle.

R.I.P. Ageia

And well played by their directors... to sell the company and keep as many jobs alive... rather than face the inevitable music and have to sack a lot of people.

I think this is a pretty pointless acquisition by Nvidia, i wont be paying an extra premium for more smoke a scattering debris in some games but no doubt some people will. i expect a Geforce Aegia edition sometime soon.

Ati spearheaded the multi gpu and card platform. They got 3 and 4 cards fixing to come out. Tri Sli is relatively new and nothing heard on that front. I think AMD and ATI are fine.

What ever we say this is what common people think. When I say "I built a machine/gaming machine", the question is Intel with Nvidia graphics? Even in those times when AMD and ATI were pawning Intel and Nvidia. I feel there are more ignorant users than users with knowledge. Until then its tough for ATI/AMD.
