Scythe Co., Ltd today announced the 5.25inch boom box for PC systems. This 5.25inch built-in bay speaker provides a quality stereo sound despite its restricted dimensions and power. Quad built-in concaved shaped speakers maximize the sound power. Black, silver and white colors are available to match with your PC case front panel, and silver finished speaker domes provide a luxury appearance for your PC system. Volume controller and power ON/OFF switch are built-in as an extra feature. Still suspicious of the quality of this speaker's sound? Try it for yourself to hear the sound and feel the quality of this 5.25inch bay boom box!!

Woah! Now this is something that I could use...definitely innovative, Scythe.

Hmm... it makes me think I need something in the front besides just my dvd-rw..

I don't get it, why speakers in the case when you can have them stereo alongside the monitor or around you in a multi-channel setup?

Drive bay boomboxes? with the hardcore stuff i'm hearing, my hard drives will start grindin' those gigabytes within a week or so!

Good point, if these speakers aren't properly magnetic-shielded, it could interfere with other system components.

I don't think extra vibrations would be good either. Interested to see how they're built on the inside.

Anyone wanna get 5 of them and try out a 5.0 system?

It's not about vibrations, it's about the magnetic interference of the speakers, yeah vibrations too.

Yeah, it would sound as good as mono.

Of course. I understand. But I doubt they are powerful enough to create anything that should be considered harmful. They are only tiny 1.5w speakers. My MP4 player has 1.5w speakers right above the HDD and electronics. Those speakers might be enough though to create some vibrations which you'd like to avoid, even small ones. But still, I don't think its powerful enough to do any damage.

True, but its probably better sounding than my 2.1 dell speakers  Hell.. This 19.99 logitech headset is better...

Gimme 5 computers, lol.

I saw a set up like this on eBay last year actually... And on TigerDirect too.

Think back 10 years... to the iMac. ;) They had 2 of these speakers built in, on either side of the hard drive and CD\DVD ROM. If Apple can slap them in to a fruity computer, why can't we toss them into our PCs?

how about the new imacs and laptops? great concept... needs a audio jack for the ability to hook headphones etc though.

The new Macs are nice too.. but I still think Apple 'done fell and bumped their head' with the price they are charging for a computer.

As to the speakers... It's be cool if they had a 'door' that opened to give you 2 or 4 more speakers, lol.

Honestly there ARE times when I drag my tower somewhere and sit there with no sound, bored off my ass... At those times, these would save my life, lol.

this is kinda cool, though I would wonder about vibrations. im sure they took into account any interferences.

This is a useless gimmick. Anyone wanting good audio quality will hate these things. Plus they will take power from your PSU, a good set of 2.1 or 5.1 speakers with it's own power supply will sound way better. I think this is an innovative, but pointless invention. Not for me.

This is great for old people or people that know little about a pc and want a cheap built budget pc, it saves on wires unless you find a monitor with built in speakers. Other than that it is a joke. Sound imaging has to be horrible unless your pc is sitting in between your ears!

hmm.... i dont trust a 'boombox' above my hard drive....btw, thats a joke to my surround sound

Does that fit in CD drive slots or hard drive slots? Idk what 5.2inch is :(

I'm thinking of using three or more of them in my old Antec 900 case, for a jukebox or something.

one guy was recently asking for a monitor with good speakers.. they would suit him..

thow i recon "boombox" would be something of an exaggeration.. he he

neat enough idea thow..
