i think it varies my friend has a cheap 3870 triplex by parasouls its bios is locked wont let you overclock at all and it has no 2d clock either its at constant 3d and the pcb has also been redesigned. It does work ok with xp and the 8.3 driver but as soon as you throw vista at it the card has constant problems with every game the only game he can play without problem is UT3 the rest seem to get openGL errors.
