Quickly following on the heels of its GeForce 9800 GX2 update, Alienware on Monday afternoon refreshed the Area-51 gaming tower to add Intel's 3.2GHz Core 2 Extreme QX9770 (12MB L2 Cache) as its best processor option. The new speed eclipses the 3GHz limit set by the older system and also brings with it a faster 1600MHz system bus. The option will launch as a higher-tier option alongside the earlier Core 2 Extreme QX9650 3GHz processor and will boost the price of the system by $1,650 to $3,749 while keeping the 2GB of RAM, GeForce 9600 GT video, and 250GB hard drive of the base system. Alienware estimates shipping systems configured with the new chip by mid-April.

Hoozah, took the 10 grand and made it 12 grand!!! Nice specs though on it.

Those prices.... just don't seem worth it....

rofl, a 9600gt and 2gb of ram? WTF are they smoking? I'll start my own company and sell an O/Ced cheap CPU with SLI O/C 8800 GTs and 4 gb ram all for a fraction of the cost muhahahahahhaa.

I don't think alienware (it's dull now right, makes sense why they're worse) has a single, competent employee. Well, for save, the janitor.
