Xbox Live director of programming Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb wrote on his blog today, that the Xbox Live Gamertags of confirmed cheaters have been corrected. He explained what his team is doing to the accounts of the most serious offenders:
  • Resetting the entire Gamerscore for an account to zero
  • The account will be unable to regain all previously obtained achievements and Gamerscore, however, the players will have the ability to gain future Achievements by earning them fairly, like the majority of the Xbox LIVE community does.
  • The account will be clearly labeled as a cheater for the community to view on xbox.com. In dash, the personal view of the gamercard will be labeled as well.
"Xbox Live remains committed to keeping the service free of cheating in order to maintain a fair and level playing field for everyone," Hyrb wrote. To find out more about Gamerscore corrections read the FAQ on Xbox.com.

I think its a good thing to do. They cheated, and thats the best way to do it. He's allowing the person to still play with friends, but allow everyone to know that they are that type of person.

What does "Stips" mean :D

I agree, cheaters should be dealt with swiftly and severely.

I think he meant "strips" XBOX live gamertags...

What happened to deleting accounts and banning xbox's?

Oh wait they only do that if you modify the hardware for personal use. Interfering with other's online experience just gets a slap on the wrist.

yeah, your right there Wazzle. The person's account should be deleted and banned. Whats to make them not do it again?

how the hell do you cheat on xbox live. this is crazy and stupid.

cheat by glitching or some people can mod a game using a backup

for example some people have outrageous gamerscore in the millions but you cant see what games they have played or what achievements they have

if you delete the account, that just makes them get another one. This has the whole 'name and shame' thing so that people caught will get noticed by their friends/family/others, and will have a negative impact on people who cheat.

Its a good way to stop people cheating, one of the big things is that people think they are anonymous when cheating - now everyone knows.

Unless they decide to get a new Gamer card instead lol. That will have Microsoft laughing all the way to the bank:laugh::laugh::laugh:
